Okagesan, a Michelin 1-star izakaya, is considered a sacred place for sake. Food log 500. We were guided to the restaurant by a senior colleague whom we met through Retty. The restaurant is tucked away in the basement of a building near the Yotsuya 1-chome intersection. The restaurant has a counter and three tables, and is full of people, indicating the popularity of the restaurant. The menu consists of a course and several additional dishes a la carte. The selection of sake is remarkable. More than half of the sake is unfamiliar to me, and even if I know the name, there are many rare brands with different labels. I can see why sake lovers call this place a sacred place. The dishes are exquisite: grilled kinmei and marinated bonito. The fatty kinmei is concentrated and leaves an aromatic aftertaste. The pickled bonito is glossy. It is a first-rate sushi pickle. The seasonal seasonal spring greens are served with tonburi and ponzu. Oden is Kanto style with a strong flavor. Delicious. All dishes are perfect and go perfectly with sake. This is the best place to enjoy the marriage with sake.

The izakaya had one star until the 2018 Michelin Guide. The course is 6,000 yen and you can order several additional dishes on the menu. Sake pairings are also available, but the total price is a little over 10,000 yen per person. The salt rice balls at the end were delicious.

This is truly a salt musubi that is a living national treasure! It's been a while since I've posted here, but I've always wanted to go to this Michelin-starred izakaya, "Manya Thanks-san," since the time I started the food log. All the dishes are so delicious that there is too much to write about. Among them, "Shiomusubi" was especially impressive. It had a divine aura and was clearly different from anything I had ever eaten. I ate it wrapped in seaweed this time, but next time I would like to eat it alternately with the omusubi in my right hand and the seaweed in my left hand! The price is almost double that of a regular izakaya and almost three times that of a chain izakaya, but I think the satisfaction is more than 10 times greater. The service, the taste of the food, the timing of serving, and the quantity of food were all perfect. The only thing I would say is the location, which is hard to find.
