Anago Meshi Tsuda is a specialty restaurant where you can enjoy exquisite eel dishes in a tranquil atmosphere renovated from a traditional house dating back to the Meiji era. One of the charms is the dry landscape garden viewed from the counter seats. The plump and flavorful conger eel dishes are highly praised for their delicious aroma. The welcoming and approachable atmosphere makes it easy for solo diners to visit as well.

The quiet interior of the old folk house is very calming. The beautiful dry landscape garden viewed from the glass-floored counter made me excited even before the meal. I chose the Tsuda set and ordered the fragrant anago (conger eel) kamameshi (rice cooked in a pot) as the main dish. The fluffy eel and rice pair perfectly, and it's delicious on its own or topped with seaweed or wasabi. The meal also included tea soba (buckwheat noodles) and chawanmushi (savory egg custard), providing a variety of flavors that made it enjoyable until the end. The squid marinated in Matsumaezuke that was served during the wait was also seasoned carefully, and overall, I was very satisfied.
