While walking through the basement of the department store, I was drawn in by the aroma of the yakitori corner and stopped in my tracks. The showcase was lined with a variety of options, from classics like 'momo negi' (chicken thigh with green onion) to unique variations like 'shiso-filled tsukune' (chicken meatballs), which was exciting. I chose 'sasami oboro maki' (chicken breast wrapped in perilla leaves) and 'teba ninniku kushi' (garlic chicken wings) to warm up at home, and the aroma intensified, doubling my appetite. The sasami was fluffy, and the refreshing taste of the perilla leaves spread out, while the wings had chunks of garlic that packed a punch of flavor. I also tried the 'tsukune skewers with five types of vegetables and domestically produced chicken,' and the crunchy vegetables added an accent that kept it interesting. It's easy to buy delicious yakitori that pairs perfectly with home drinking, so every time I stop by the department store, my enjoyment increases.
