As I stepped into the renovated school building that was once a closed school, the feelings of my elementary school days came rushing back. After taking off my shoes at the entrance and changing into slippers, I headed to the dining hall, which had a warm atmosphere that was hard to believe it was once the staff room. While waiting at the counter seats and gazing at the lush scenery, the system of calling out numbers felt fun, like a school festival. The weekly special plate for the day featured a nostalgic combination of fried bread and mapo tofu, all of which had the enticing aroma of freshly made food. In particular, the fried bread was fluffy, and the moment it entered my mouth, the soybean flour spread pleasantly, tasting several times better than I remembered. After the meal, touring the hallways and classrooms of the school building gave me a sense of fulfillment, as if I had brought back not only a full stomach but also memories.
