Upon entering the store, there is a food corner lined up next to the tables, resembling a small market. The staff from China moves briskly, and their polite Japanese makes it easy to place an order with confidence. Sitting at a rotating table, I ordered the pork belly rice bowl, and it arrived with fluffy meat piled generously on top of a large serving of rice along with a rich sauce. The fat was sweet and melted in my mouth, perfectly complementing the crisp texture of the bean sprouts and bok choy. The acidity of the tomato in the soup and the spiciness of the pickled mustard greens provided a great accent, making it impossible to put down my chopsticks until the end. I was able to enjoy authentic northeastern home-cooked dishes in a quiet space, resulting in a very satisfying lunch.
