A hidden soba cafe open only on Sundays

Cafe & Soba Nagai is a hidden gem that offers delicious soba and cafe menu items, open only on Sundays. The soba noodles have a nice texture and perfect balance with the dipping sauce. The cafe dishes and desserts are also excellent, with the homemade chiffon cake and coffee being particularly popular. Easily accessible from the hot spring town, it's a place you'll want to visit in between sightseeing at Shima Onsen.

The tatami room has a really nice atmosphere. Since there were a lot of people, we used the tatami area. There is enough space for about four families. Well, the downside is that the staff is not nearby, so it can be a bit troublesome to call them. But that's just part of the charm, haha. I heard the soba is famous, so we decided to visit. It seems they have even served it to the Emperor. Amazing! And the portions are generous! Perhaps because the water is delicious, the soba was also really good. The soba broth was thick and, being from the Izumo region, I personally liked it. People from the Kanto region might have different preferences!

When I casually entered a shop that is only open on Sundays, the clean and tidy interior was calming. The fried soba that comes out immediately upon arrival is crispy and fragrant, instantly boosting my appetite. The thin yet aromatic handmade soba has a great texture and pairs perfectly with the dipping sauce. Whether it's the dipping sauce filled with mountain vegetables or the gentle broth of tororo, you can enjoy the natural flavors with any combination. I appreciate that the coffee and Japanese sweets served after the meal gently wrap up the lingering taste of the soba. I think it's a wonderful shop where you can simultaneously feel nostalgia and novelty while savoring the rich traditional soba broth until the end.
