Sushi in Oita After watching a soccer game at the Oogin Dome, I returned to Oita City and had sushi alone. Since I was alone, I avoided large restaurants and izakayas (Japanese style pubs) and looked for a restaurant with a counter. There seemed to be a party going on in the tatami room at the back of the restaurant, but the sound of the party seemed to be young people, so I sat at the counter thinking that it would not be a very expensive restaurant. Since I had been drinking beer while watching the soccer game, I started with a glass of Oita's local sake (cold). We had sashimi such as Seki horse mackerel and tuna for Tsumami. After that, we had another round of sake and chatted with the owner over kingfish meat and liver. He seems to be a bicycle enthusiast, and tells us that he trains with a professional bicycle racer on his days off, and that you can easily get around the shrines in Oita City by bicycle. We add more sake to our drinks, and then it is time for sushi. We requested 7 or 8 pieces of sushi, and they were all fresh, but with a little extra effort. The only other sushi restaurant I know of in Oita is the one at the airport, so I don't know what the standard is, but I am sure I was very satisfied. Our bill was 7,000 yen for 4 gou of Oita's local sake, assorted sashimi, 2 snacks, and 8 pieces of sushi. I thought it would be more than 10,000 yen, but for this amount of money and the contents, I would like to come back again. I left the restaurant saying that I would definitely come back when Oita Trinita is promoted again. Thank you for the food.
