The interior of the renovated old house, resembling a hideaway, has a calm yet stylish atmosphere. As you pass through the noren (fabric divider), you find a counter and a large table, with Edo-patterned cloth coasters and oshibori (wet towels) that lift your spirits. The bright smiles of the female staff are warm, making it easy to relax even for first-time visitors. When you toast with a downtown highball, you feel a comforting sense as if you are relaxing in someone’s home. The stir-fried eggplant, bell pepper, and shiso, along with the miso-based meat tofu, are homey yet served in stylish dishes, and each dish pairs well with alcohol. Finishing with the fragrant grilled cabbage allows you to enjoy both the nostalgia of the Showa era and a new sense of style, leaving you very satisfied.
