As I sat at the counter, the aroma of grilled fish rising from the kitchen stimulated my appetite. The sashimi platter I ordered was glossy and conveyed its freshness with just one bite. The fried dishes had a light batter, and the flavors of the squid and whiting burst in my mouth, making it hard to put down my chopsticks. The set meal, complete with rice, miso soup, small side dishes, and pickles, had a good balance of nutrition, and it was enjoyable to change the flavors along the way. In particular, the small dishes like shirasu (whitebait) and kinpira (stir-fried burdock) paired excellently with the rice, allowing me to finish it all without getting bored. Thanks to the homely atmosphere and attentive staff, I felt a sense of comfort as if I had returned to my family home, even though it was my first visit.
