While driving on National Route 299, I stopped by an old-fashioned diner that suddenly appeared on the mountain road. The interior, filled with the scent of wood, has table seating and tatami rooms, and the central wood stove provides a cozy atmosphere. The large fried maitake mushrooms I ordered were bigger than my palm, with a light and crispy batter that spread a delightful aroma. The homemade thin soba served alongside was chilled, and when dipped lightly in the rich sauce, it had an excellent texture. There were also dishes like a katsudon that resembled a straw sandal and fresh deer sashimi, making it a joy to enjoy the blessings of the mountains. The quantity and satisfaction were both impeccable, and it was a place that made me feel happy when I casually stopped by during my drive.
