There is a wide variety of tsukudani, making it fun to choose. It's convenient that they offer both bulk sales and assorted packages. The clams in soy sauce with a hint of ginger are tender and have a strong umami flavor. The shirasu, kelp, shrimp, young sardines, and dried stingray each have their own unique characteristics, making the rice go down easily. The dried clams expand in flavor the more you chew, and they pair well with alcohol. You can see the rice being cooked in the store, and the aroma of the freshly made dishes is exciting.
