A heartwarming little tofu restaurant

Tofu Workshop Nukumoribata is a wonderful spot in Asakura where you can enjoy tofu dishes made with fresh local vegetables and fruits. The restaurant offers handmade tofu characterized by its deep flavor and smooth texture. Located along the bypass, this restaurant is easily recognizable by its eye-catching sign and is also popular as a place to conveniently purchase local specialties. The healthy and hearty lunches bring satisfaction and smiles to all who visit.

There are various dishes featuring tofu as the main ingredient, and I feel that each one is carefully prepared. The set with a variety of items on one plate allows me to enjoy a little bit of everything, such as thick fried tofu, okara salad, pickles, and simmered pumpkin and green beans, which is delightful. The miso-marinated tofu topped with shiso is rich and creamy, with the aroma of miso gently spreading. I can choose between white rice and mixed rice, which is nice as it can match my mood. The curry has a sharp spiciness, and adding the accompanying soy milk makes it milder and easier to eat. The tofu croquettes and the hearty miso soup were also delicious, and I was satisfied with the freshness of the vegetables.

Choose from three main dishes made with Asakura ingredients and cooked in a hand pot: 'Warm Tofu Hot Pot,' 'Crispy Fried Tofu,' and 'Cold Zaru Tofu.' You can also choose between Akizuki ancient chicken 'Gomoku' or 'White Rice.' In addition, enjoy 'Tofu Miso Pickles' and 'Daily Side Dish,' both selected as souvenirs for entertaining in 2017. Before you leave, we recommend taking home some Asakura souvenirs such as 'Tofu Miso Pickles,' 'Yose Tofu,' 'Tofu Vegetable Croquettes,' and 'Soy Milk Kinako Bread.'
