Local vegetables and rice are all on display, giving a strong sense of the season. Matsutake mushrooms are abundant when in season and are carefully packed and safe. For a meal, the wild boar meat stew goes well with the sour sauce and makes the rice go down a treat. The wild boar meat hot pot is full of the blessings of the mountains and is very tasty. Inoshishi-korokke (croquettes) are deep-fried on the spot, and the juices are so rich that you don't mind the smell. Shiitake mushroom udon and tonjiru (pork miso soup) are also available to enjoy with your shopping.
