Dōshūan is a charming, hidden café styled as a single-family home. The dishes feature freshly harvested Koshihikari rice from Uonuma and carefully selected vegetables, characterized by a gentle seasoning that highlights the natural flavors of the ingredients. After your meal, you can enjoy mild coffee served in handmade kuksa cups imported directly from Finland.

It is located at the end of a narrow path surrounded by greenery, creating a quiet and calming atmosphere. The style is to take off your shoes at the entrance, and the space has high ceilings that feel pleasant. There are table seats and a Japanese-style room where you can relax. Coffee is served in wooden cups carved from birch knots, offering a clear taste that does not get overshadowed by the wood's aroma. The dishes have gentle flavors, and I was particularly impressed by the cold chawanmushi topped with grated tomato and a dish where somen noodles are served in a dashi broth. The dessert, a rice flour cheesecake, is light and pleasantly hints at matcha and zunda flavors.
