A seafood izakaya where you can savor whale dishes

Kukai is one of the few seafood izakayas in Saga that offers whale cuisine. The large characters for 'whale' prominently displayed on the roof make a strong impression, and the interior exudes a traditional izakaya atmosphere. In addition to whale fried in the tatsuta style and sashimi, there is also a wide variety of fresh seafood dishes available.

The parking lot is often full, which raises expectations. Once inside, I was shown to a four-person table in a private room, which was very calming. I could choose from set meals featuring pine, bamboo, or plum, and I was pleased to find that there were several small side dishes accompanying the sashimi and grilled fish. The food came out quickly, making it easy to wait. The rice is free for refills, so I could enjoy it without hesitation. The fragrant sesame soy sauce was impressive and enhanced the flavor of the fish.
