In a small shop along the national road, the wooden counter is bright and very calming. Upon entering, a friendly couple welcomed us, and the fatigue from our journey melted away immediately. The specialty cod soup was served in a large pot, filled with plenty of liver, flesh, and burdock, and the aroma alone was delightful. The rich miso absorbed the umami of the cod, and I couldn't help but drink up the broth. The side dishes of vegetables and sashimi were also fresh, providing a satisfying variety of flavors. It was better balanced than the cod soup we had at the roadside station, making for a wonderful memory of our drive.
