My first visit to Tonkatsu Ashimi, a restaurant specializing in tonkatsu, was a small, cozy restaurant with a five-seat counter. The owner is friendly, hospitable, and runs the restaurant by himself. I had visited the restaurant before, and it seems that he had been trained at Tonkatsu no Masuiya for 20 years. I ordered the lunch-only tonkatsu set meal. The heat was exquisite, giving it a beautiful medium-rare pink color. The batter is crispy and the meat is tender, which is truly "Masuiya" quality. In addition to the original sauce, seven kinds of salt are available for a refreshing taste. The sweetness of the meat was especially enhanced and delicious when served with rock salt. The miso soup was also very tasty, with a good dashi broth. We found a great restaurant and hope to visit again. Please come with care. Thank you for the food.
