A hidden izakaya with a traditional Japanese atmosphere

Toki is an izakaya that charms with its understated Japanese ambiance and attentive service. The dishes prepared by the former sumo wrestler chef focus on exquisite flavors, especially those centered around fish. The pairing with sake at the counter is exceptional, making it a place where you can enjoy a relaxed time in a cozy atmosphere.

The interior of the restaurant, where you take off your shoes, has a spacious and slightly dim atmosphere that is calming. At the counter, the kind owner shares detailed stories about sake. I was recommended 'Tateyama' from Toyama, which was smooth and pleasant to drink. The owner used to be a sumo wrestler, and the broth for the shio chanko nabe and the tsukune with cartilage left a particularly strong impression. The fresh spring rolls feature a combination of braised pork and cream cheese, accented with balsamic, and are served in bite-sized pieces. The assorted sashimi, simmered red snapper, sweet and spicy stir-fried swordfish, and dashimaki tamago are all carefully prepared and delicious.
