An izakaya to enjoy in a calm atmosphere

Tanuki is an izakaya located in the suburbs of Takamatsu City, within walking distance from Hayato Station. The smoke-free and clean interior features background music reminiscent of a phonograph, making you feel as if you've traveled back in time. The cold Super Dry draft beer served in a mug is particularly popular, and all the dishes are known for being carefully prepared and delicious.

The izakaya is non-smoking and has a clean feel, and I immediately liked the calm atmosphere. Retro jazz and chanson, reminiscent of a phonograph, play softly in the background, making it comfortable without interrupting conversation. The ice-cold Super Dry draft beer is refreshing and made me want to order a second. The shrimp chili, asparagus tempura, and fluffy grilled conger eel are all impressively well-prepared. The salt ramen with stir-fried vegetables and rice balls I ordered for the finale went down surprisingly smoothly, and even the pickles served alongside were delicious. Coupled with the warm hospitality of the master who runs the place alone, I felt it was a spot I would want to visit regularly if it were in my neighborhood.
