I must say I was a bit hesitant before this visit to Mr Ma as I had only previously visited their Place Ville Marie location many years ago, But I was more than pleasantly surprised at the Old Montreal original location. Driving in from Toronto during Grand Prix weekend I was understandably concerned on the timing, traffic, congestion etc. Leaving early solved much of that concern and also making reservations helped. However local traffic was also better than expected so we were quite early ahead of our 6 PM Reserved time. No problem as it turned out. They saw us outside at 430PM and opened a half hour early which was an hour before my reservation. Again not a problem and we were warmly welcomed inside by the owners and staff. We had first choice of tables and were even able to order almost 90 minutes before our expected arrival time. It was a good thing too because the restaurant quickly filled up behind us. The appetizer (chicken dumplings with peanut sauce) was absolutely perfect and of course as always the main course of General Tso chicken was fantastic as it had always been at PVM. So good in fact that we took an order back to the hotel and then to Toronto a few days later where my son enjoyed it again. It was all we talked about that night as we floated around the roof top pool at Place Bonaventure Hotel. We couldn't thank the extra attentive staff enough as they made the visit as enjoyable as the wonderful meal. We will definitely be back. Thank you Mr Ma and staff! George Coleman and family
