A long-established kishimen shop where you can experience the atmosphere of the Showa era

Marufuku Kishimen is a historic kishimen restaurant beloved by local regulars. The interior exudes a homely feel reminiscent of Showa-era dramas, and the warm, community-focused service is a highlight. Their carefully crafted kishimen boasts a smooth texture and delightful mouthfeel, perfectly complemented by a rich seasoning that pairs exquisitely with tororo. Additionally, the selection of side dishes, including mackerel sashimi, is exceptional, making each visit a chance for new discoveries.

The traditional diner along Aoi Street, upon passing through the noren curtain, is filled with the scent of wood and steam, creating a space where one can quickly feel at ease. There are table seats, raised areas, and tatami bench counters, allowing you to leisurely choose your favorite spot. The signature kishimen noodles are handmade, offering a softer texture rather than a chewy one, with a slightly stronger flavor of kombu and bonito broth. The freshly fried shrimp and vegetable tempura are crispy, and they pair perfectly with the dipping sauce and grated daikon. With a wide variety of set meals and individual dishes, you can enjoy just rice or a light drink. The warm hospitality of the couple and the occasional generous service made me feel cozy today as well.
