Yamayoshi is located inside Shinshohara Station and has a 26-year history as a specialty shop for grilled eel. The domestically sourced eel, grilled over charcoal to a fragrant crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, is a true delicacy, enhanced by the special sauce. It's a shop inside the station, and the fragrant aroma wafting outside is exciting. First, I place my order and pay at the station counter, then head to a small tatami room through a separate entrance. The interior has a simple and calming atmosphere, creating a space where you can relax. The eel rice bowl comes out quickly, accompanied by clear soup and pickles. The eel is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, perfectly complementing the rice soaked in sauce. You can enjoy authentic flavors with the casualness unique to a station, making it perfect for a break during travel.
