A Long-Standing Okonomiyaki Restaurant in Higashikujo, Kyoto, Preserved by Three Generations

Founded 60 years ago, 'Okonomiyaki Kawa' is a renowned establishment that has been passed down through three generations. Located within walking distance from Kyoto Station, it operates only during lunch hours. The signature dish, the 'manbo-yaki,' features a delightful combination of soba and ingredients, with the richness of beef tendon and fried lard complemented by a fragrant sauce, creating an unforgettable flavor. The meticulous preparation shines through in side dishes like the beef tendon jelly and yakisoba with 'hoso' (thin noodles), allowing guests to enjoy a heartwarming experience in a cozy, down-to-earth atmosphere.

The atmosphere in the store is traditional, allowing for a relaxed experience. You can prepare your own water, chopsticks, and side plates, making it easy to enjoy. The manbo-yaki is savory with soba noodles, and you can really taste the umami of the sinew and oil. The combination of bonito flakes and spicy sauce is irresistible, and the acidity in the aftertaste is addictive. The udon manbo-yaki and yakisoba with hosos are also satisfying with their rich flavors. The variety of ingredients offers different deliciousness with every bite, making me feel happy.
