The bento available near the station's ticket gate is very convenient. The Aizu Kuradashi bento is stacked in two tiers, filled with wild vegetable rice and side dishes. The tempura of herring is fluffy and has no bony texture, and the sweet simmered cod is also mild and easy to eat. The thick omelet, teriyaki chicken, and teriyaki salmon are all satisfying, and you can even enjoy Aizu's traditional sweets. The wild vegetable kamameshi is abundant with young bamboo shoots, bracken, chestnuts, and nameko mushrooms, which pairs well with the scenery from the train window. It can be enjoyed deliciously on a bench in front of the station or inside the train, and before I knew it, I had finished it all.
