A beloved local restaurant for exquisite tonkatsu

As the name suggests, Tonkatsu Kappo Taniguchi specializes in tonkatsu, but their a la carte dishes, including sashimi, are also exceptional. Their house-made tartar sauce is particularly well-regarded, captivating many regular customers. The restaurant features tatami seating, providing a spacious and comfortable environment, making it a great place for families to enjoy a meal. It is cherished by locals and is characterized by its homely atmosphere.

I can't help but smile at the tanuki in front of the shop. Once seated, they quickly serve cold tea and a wet towel, which feels nice. There are counters and tables, and I can also see tatami rooms in the back. The tonkatsu is, of course, delicious, and the sashimi is also quite tasty, with the fish being fresh and free of any unpleasant smell. The fried items are hot and easy to cut with chopsticks, and in addition to the sauce and Japanese mustard, the gentle acidity of the tartar sauce pairs well. The clam miso soup has a rich dashi flavor, and it goes well with rice along with pickled daikon and small side dishes.
