A tranquil udon shop that shines with a focus on ingredients

The renowned udon specialty shop "Wara no Kura Joan," featured in the Michelin guide, is located by the Nakagawa River and offers additive-free dishes that highlight carefully selected ingredients. The interior has a calm atmosphere with only counter seating, and the chef provides detailed explanations about each dish and ingredient, allowing for a deeper appreciation of the meal. In particular, the udon with a strong chewiness and the special meat miso are exquisite, making it a place you will want to visit repeatedly.

The approach to the charming building across the small path is lovely, making you feel like you're in a different world. The cold, fresh soy sauce udon that was served first raises expectations with its strong wheat aroma and firm texture. The warm bowl has an excellent clear broth fragrant with bonito and soy sauce, making you want to drink it all the way to the last drop. The burdock, fried on the spot, is crispy with just salt, and it's addictive without being greasy. The side dishes like flying fish cake, pickled egg, and homemade yuzu pepper are also carefully prepared, enhancing the deliciousness of the udon. In a cozy space centered around the counter, there are also commemorative menus, allowing you to leisurely enjoy the quality of handmade dishes.
