A Hidden Gem for Soba Lovers

Located in Takayanagi, Iwakyu is a beloved hidden soba restaurant cherished by locals. Although it may be a bit difficult to find, the inviting atmosphere makes it worth the visit. Inside, guests can enjoy sets that combine soba with tempura, and every dish is sure to satisfy. The tea is also highly regarded, allowing diners to enjoy a pleasant moment alongside their meal.

This soba restaurant is located a little off the main road and is known to those in the know. The interior is cozy, but the service is quick, making for a good turnover, and the anticipation while waiting is exciting. The menu is very extensive, and even just choosing from the rice bowl and soba sets is enjoyable. The tempura rice bowl set has a crispy batter that pairs perfectly with the gentle flavor of the soba, keeping it interesting until the end. I was surprised by the melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness of seemingly unexpected combinations like the beef tendon set and the pork cutlet curry set. Even the fragrant tea served after the meal is delicious, making it a place you want to keep coming back to.
