Enjoy exquisite soba in a mountain hideaway

Soba Doko Shiba is a hidden soba restaurant quietly nestled in the mountains of Sawara. The soba, made by a parent-child duo, is aromatic and has a delightful texture, loved by many soba enthusiasts. Inside the restaurant, you can savor dishes like roasted duck and soba dumplings in a tranquil tatami room. This is a recommended spot for those who want to enjoy carefully crafted soba while taking in the beautiful scenery.

This is a calm shop located in the mountains, and the air feels nice. You can relax in a tatami mat room after taking off your shoes at the entrance. The roasted duck is fragrant and has a rich flavor. Although it is a soba shop, I was surprised by the smooth and chewy udon. The seaweed on top adds a nice accent, and the aftertaste is refreshing. The sweets served while waiting are also delightful, and I can understand why it is popular.
