A long-established restaurant where you can savor tradition and seasonal flavors

Founded in the 5th year of the Meiji era, Uoka is a hidden gem where you can enjoy bamboo shoot dishes that capture the essence of spring in Kyoto. The charm of this establishment lies in its dining space, which offers beautiful views of the garden. The bamboo shoot dishes during this season are particularly diverse and impressively delicate in flavor. It is a wonderful place where you can fully enjoy seasonal cuisine in a calm atmosphere.

I found the quality of the food to be high at this long-established restaurant, which offers a seasonally changing menu of bamboo shoot dishes. The sashimi bamboo shoots were especially refreshing and pleasant to the touch, and the simmered and grilled dishes were also delicious. The bamboo shoot bento for lunch was served in a private room, allowing us to enjoy our meal in a relaxed atmosphere. I was also particularly impressed by the sashimi with sweet bamboo shoots served in a beautiful lacquered bowl. The lineup of dishes that were close to a full course, such as bamboo shoot tempura and wakatake stew, were also very appealing. Overall, the restaurant was a great value for money, and I look forward to my next visit to enjoy the taste of cherry blossoms and bamboo shoots.
