'98% of the Koshihikari cultivation area in the prefecture is BL'. Niigata Koshihikari Classic rice is a rare rice that accounts for only 2% in Niigata. It is also known as Classic Koshihikari, using traditional Koshihikari seedlings. The cultivation method significantly surpasses Niigata Prefecture's strict management and cultivation standards (using less than half the pesticides and chemical fertilizers of conventional cultivation). While conventional rice uses pesticides 17 times, this rice uses only 3 times. It is a rice that is particular about not using any chemical fertilizers. Although it requires a lot of effort, the taste is guaranteed. It has a different moistness and umami.
