According to the Okuninushi mythology, it is said that Susanoo defeated the Yamata no Orochi and pulled out a sword from its tail. This sword is known as the 'Ame-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi' (later renamed 'Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi') and became one of the three sacred treasures. Since then, the land of Yokota has prospered as a major production area of 'tamahagane,' the material for Japanese swords, and the culture starting from ancient iron-making method 'tatara iron-making' has been passed down to this day. Our 'Ame-no-Murakumo' is a confectionery made to resemble the process of forging iron into a rectangular shape in a blacksmith's workshop, based on this history.
