An attractive izakaya where history and flavor coexist

Yamadori is a charming izakaya that exudes the elegance of the Showa era. The lined shelves of shochu and the signed memorabilia from Yoshikazu evoke a sense of history. The horse sashimi impresses many customers, and the shishamo, specially sourced from Hokkaido, is particularly well-regarded. As I stepped into the shop, a nostalgic bar atmosphere gently spread around me, and I naturally took a seat at the counter. The horse sashimi recommended by the chef had a melt-in-your-mouth texture, and the umami spread throughout my mouth. The miso stew of horse offal was rich and made it hard to put down my chopsticks. The large shishamo from Mukawa, Hokkaido, was perfectly grilled, and the firmness of the flesh was irresistible. This shop has a style that discourages photography, which allows me to focus on the flavors, and the warm atmosphere created by the couple running the place made for an unexpectedly fulfilling night.
