A cozy hideaway in Yatsushiro that feels like home

Komugi captivates visitors with its homely warmth and rich flavors. Despite its simple exterior, the restaurant features dishes that incorporate fresh seafood unique to Kumamoto and local specialties. The pork miso soup and dako soup, in particular, offer a comforting taste that feels just like home, filled with plenty of ingredients to satisfy both your stomach and heart. Each visit allows you to rediscover the traditional flavors of Kyushu, making it a heartwarming hideaway in Yatsushiro.

The atmosphere allows you to see from the outside to the inside, and it's simple yet comfortable. The warm soup with dumplings is hearty and feels like home-cooked food. The pork soup is rich and perfect for a finishing touch after drinking. The rice with broth is loaded with salmon, and I was satisfied with the balance of saltiness, the size of the pickled plum, and the amount of wasabi. The sashimi, including konoshiro and mackerel, is fresh, and it pairs well with shochu when eaten with soy sauce flavored with ginger. From simmered and grilled fish to the sweet barley miso soup, everything has a local touch and is fulfilling.
