Tonkatsu restaurant tucked away in a residential area. It is a short 10-minute walk from Kokubunji Station, which is not a major station on the Chuo Line (pardon the pun), and its business hours are short. I am the kind of person who can't help but go to such a restaurant. The location is in an ordinary residential area, walking along the railroad tracks from the station. Be careful, it is not a store with a fancy signboard (the landmark is a railroad crossing). Top loin set meal (1,500 yen) First of all, there are a lot of pickles, homemade or not. The quality of this alone is enough for a bowl of rice, but I'll hold off here. After that, the main course of tonkatsu, rice, and miso soup. The pork cutlet here has a strong pepper flavor. There is only soy sauce (probably for pickles) and sauce on the table, which is a bit sad for me, as I am a salt eater, but even without any sauce, the taste of the meat comes through and is delicious. The deep frying is done slowly in low-temperature oil with just the right amount of heat so that it is not too hard, and the texture is enjoyable. I am very happy with that quality for 1,500 yen.
