Q: Why provide Japanese sake at cost? A: To allow many people to enjoy drinking a lot of Japanese sake. Japanese sake is one of the alcoholic beverages with the highest production costs in the world. Restaurants must purchase this costly alcohol and add a profit margin, which tends to make the price higher than other alcoholic beverages, narrowing the range of people who can afford it. To break this situation, we started offering it at cost. Amazingly, we are providing it starting from 200 yen!
In fact, 99% of sake breweries in Japan are small to medium-sized enterprises, and nearly 60% have been in operation for over 100 years, making it an extremely rare industry even on a global scale. With such scale and history, each brewery has its own unique story. Additionally, even within the category of sake, the differences in production methods, ingredients, and climate (sake is brewed in all 47 prefectures of Japan) result in a diverse range of flavors.
While 720ml bottles of sake are becoming more common, the 1.8L bottle (1800ml) is still the mainstream. Sake is a type of alcohol that can easily lose its flavor. In typical restaurants, the opening and closing of bottles and temperature changes during serving can lead to quicker deterioration. To address this, we transfer the sake into specially ordered bottles in advance to maintain its freshness. (100ml) Additionally, being able to serve it quickly without keeping you waiting after receiving your order is another advantage.
This is a phrase that represents the goal of the Sake Genka Brewery. It is an immense joy to convey the charm of sake to the world and to realize that with our own hands. This shared sense among all staff is what this brand is created for. We want to communicate the 'fun' of sake, so we not only sell, drink, and savor the sake, but we also want to provide experiences of time and space that revolve around sake. We aim to realize this 'fun' in the form of a dining establishment.
In our store, we provide 'Yaragi Water' to prevent bad intoxication and hangovers from sake. We also offer 'Shikomi Water', which is the most effective water used in the production of sake.
