Lagavulin is a classic example of how smoke isn't a blunt instrument that covers everything in a fog, but an element that works with all the flavours produced in distillation and maturation. Lagavulin isn't 'smokey,' its peat moves into a weird territory of Lapsang Souchong tea and pipe tobacco, fishboxes and kippers. It smells of laurel and light cereal, but is always sweet. The palate shows more creosote, with hints of kelp and a little touch of iodine. Complex

This is the new no-age-statement Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the famous Speyside distillery of Macallan. Macallan's new range has done away with age-statements and instead focuses on the colour of the whisky. The concept being that the older the whisky is the darker it will be. This burnished gold spirit presents a lemon citrus nose, the orange peel and an interlacing sweetness that softens but doesn't eliminate the zest. A quiet note of vanilla is followed by dark chocolate - more assertive, yet not overly so - with a lingering floral and light oak notes. Citrus and boiled sweets rule the palate, along with hints of ginger and cinnamon, while soft oak tones reveal toasted apples. The finish is medium sweet, malty and slightly dry

An exciting new age statement expression from Macallan that's matured in a combination of American and European Sherry oak for a minimum of 12 years. Here, the proportion of American oak ex-Sherry casks is higher than in the 12 Year Old Sherry Oak, but no ex-bourbon casks are used as they are in the 12 Year Old Fine Oak release

Booker's True Barrel Bourbon, named after Booker Noe, Jim Beam's grandson and former Master Distiller, was first released in 1992. A small batch bourbon aged for 6 to 8 years and bottled at cask strength, resulting in rich, full-bodied whiskey. Perhaps a drop of water or two wouldn't go amiss with this intense expression

The Grappa Barricata di Rabosois obtained from the pomace of the Raboso Piave grape, which is mainly native to the Veneto region. From this grape wine is obtained, which is characterized by its tart taste and its color intensity. Of course, this also affects the character of this grappa. Due to the double distillation with temporal interruption according to traditional methods, it is possible to accentuate the typical flavors of blackberries and sour cherries typical of the Raboso Piave grape. Then the grappa is stored in oak barrels , in which the well-known L'Elisir Gambrinus was previously matured, in the rock cellar at a constant temperature of only 4-5 degrees

ABV: 13%. The Riverstone Chardonnay exhibits youthful hues of light to medium straw. The enticing aromas are reminiscent of peaches, tangerine, yellow floral, baking spices, vanilla, and cocoa. These aromas echo on the palate and are complemented by fresh orange and apricot, balanced with creamy texture from aging sur lie. Flavors of crème brûlée and a touch of oak can be found on the long finish

The vineyards have been replanted and expanded into a series of micro-crus relating to the property's 12 distinct meso-climates over the last 20 years vastly improving the fruit that gets to the winery. The aromatics are front and center along with the red fruit and garrigue notes. The texture is supple with more liquorice and savoury, dried herb nuances. A wonderful and persistent finish linger on the palate fro this classically made Chianti

Aromas of wild violets, smoke, vanilla spice and fleshy black cherry. The wine is aged for 15 months in 60 American and 40 French oak barrels

ABV: 14.5%. A mix of brambly red berry fruit on the nose with paprika, roasted red pepper, stewed plum, black cherry, dark chocolate and violet along with some sweet vanillin pastry crust. The palate is dry, full bodied and has nice vibrant mixed red and black brambly berry fruit, crisp acidity, the punch of blackberry, juiciness of plum, blueberry, smooth tannins and dark chocolate, dried thyme and some dusty earth

ABV: 15.2%. The 2018 Pessimist is inky and dark aubergine in color. A powerhouse vintage with a plethora fruit showcasing blueberry, boysenberry, plum and strawberry. Smoky notes of truffle and roasted coffee are accompanied by accents of floral consisting of lavender and lilac, highlighted by underlying nuances of buttered toast, vanilla, and a breath of cool wintergreen. A veritable cascade of juicy berries, red cherries and huckleberries flood the palate while a river of lush fruit flavors overflow its banks. Appellation: Chateauneuf du Pape. ABV: 14.5%. Domaine de Cristia is a beautiful Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Exhibiting excellent fruit and fine balance, this wine is primed for the dinner table. Bright and pretty red fruit aromas, excellent depth and definition; medium bodied, smooth tannins on the palate; dry, with nice acidity; bright and vivid red fruit in the flavours; lively aftertaste

ABV: 14.5%. This pinot noir shows such complexity with violets, orchids, orange skin and almonds. Earth and mushrooms, too. Medium body, precise and firm tannins and a cool and exciting finish

ABV: 14%. Miljenko "Mike" Grgich has been called "The King of Chardonnay" since the winery began in 1977, and you can taste why in this classically-styled wine. The wine displays crisp apple, honeydew melon and a hint of cashew nut aromas and flavours

Appellation: Barolo DOCG. ABV: 14%. Elegant and soft on the palate, it is characterized by the fruity notes of raspberry and a floral and spicy nose. The Nebbiolo grapes come exclusively from the vineyard "Rocche dell' Annunziata", one of the historical crus of La Morra. The vinification is traditional, with a maceration which can last about two weeks. The wine is then aged for 24 months in large Slavonian oak barrels, and then fined for at least one year in the bottle

Appellation: Alexander Valley. ABV: 14.5%. Plum and black cherry fruit aromas, mint, and gravelly earth. Ripe bramble fruit on entry, balanced acidity, and elegant tannins. A blend of Zinfandel, Carignane, Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouschet

Appellation: Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. ABV: 14%. Ripe red berry fruit and with hints of spices and cedar coupled with beautiful floral aromatics. Full-bodied, dense and layered with fantastic richness and depth of flavour

Appellation: Toscana IGT. ABV: 14%. Intensely ruby red in colour with purple highlights, Tignanello shows an intense nose of ripe red fruit in addition to notes of vanilla, chocolate, and leather imparted from the oak. Spicy and balsamic sensations give additional complexity in the layers of aromatics. Antinori have worked very hard on creating perfectly ripe tannins, balanced by a savoury freshness that fully respects the character and personality of the Sangiovese grape. The balance between acidity and tannins is excellent and the finish and aftertaste are of a lovely length and persistence

Enticing aromas of fresh red fruit along with subtle notes of blueberries, blackberries and lilacs envelop the senses, while delicate notes of baking spice and vanilla integrate seamlessly. On the palette ripe blue fruit complements the precise balance of structure, layered acidity and long finish. A silky, elegant Pinot Noir with a terrific sense of minerality and a complex, nuanced style

Appellation: Stags Leap District. ABV: 14.5%. One Point Five is a dense purple colour. A beautifully elegant wine with flavours of blueberry, black raspberry and blackcurrant fruit, along with graphite and spring flowers. A rich and powerful wine with soft tannins creating a smooth and long finish. The wine is aged for 20 months in 100 new French oak. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot

Appellation: Côtes de Bourg. ABV: 13.5%. This is a classic, juicy and uplifting claret from the Right Bank. This small region sits directly across the river from Margaux, on a bed of limestone and clay. Château Rousselle is a venerable estate, founded long ago in 1636, and is one of the top chateaux classified in the Cru Bourgeois ranking. The aromas are plummy and spicy with a hint of cedar, and your first sip will reveal dark black currant, mocha and a note of vanilla from French oak casks. A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec

Appellation: Rosso di Montalcino. ABV: 15%. Aromas and flavours of dark black cherry, earth and balsamic with firm but refined tannin. A remarkably good Rosso with an earthy, savoury depth of flavour

ABV: 14.5%. Previously call "The Bear's Meritage" this is part of the "Premier Series" wines. The best barrels are always chosen for this wine, with the Cab. Sauv. grapes usually coming from a later picking to add to the complexity. The wine is stored for longer periods of time in the barrel. (anywhere from 14 to 20 months) The time "on the skins" is usually longer, again to achieve higher extraction from the skins. A blend of Cab. Sauv., Merlot, Cab. Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot) with Cabernet Sauvignon being at least 50 of the blend, sometimes reaching as high as 75 of the blend in exceptional Cab. years

ABV: 14.3%. A standout vintage of this Painted Rock classic. Rich aromas of cassis, bramble fruit and eucalyptus. Full on the palate and elegantly balanced with bright acidity and polished tannins. Lingering dark fruit and nutmeg on the lengthy finish

Appellation: Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. ABV: 13%. Castello Banfi's 2014 Brunello di Montalcino denotes riper and softer fruit than most of its peers in this vintage. This historic estate is located in the southern quadrant of the appellation, where temperatures are a few degrees warmer on average. You don't always taste that difference in ripeness, but for some reason, it comes forward with increased intensity in 2014. Therefore, I am officially recommending this wine to all those Brunello lovers who appreciate a little more volume and softness on those proverbial love handles

Appellation: Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. ABV: 14%. Intense ruby-red in color with garnet hues, San Polo Brunello offers classic aromas of violets, small red berries, and more subtle notes of coffee and tobacco. It is warm and full-bodied on the palate, with ripe, firm tannins balanced by a lively acidity, and the flavors unfold into a long, well-rounded finish

Appellation: Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. ABV: 14%. The 2013 has a more svelte quality than maybe the likes of the dark and powerful 2011, this is a wine full of cherry, cranberry, red fruit on the nose with hints of thyme, coffee/mocha notes. Complex and enticing. The palate is medium bodied, the acidity is crisp and cooling almost hiding the true depths of the fruit beneath. Tannins beautifully integrated with a pepper, anise like length. Very high quality

Appellation: Margaux. ABV: 14%. Very attractive, plush and rich red and dark-fruit aromas with beautifully integrated oak and youthful, spicy complexity. The palate has lush, seamless and velvety tannins that are elegant yet powerful and deliver a silky build of ripe dark-berry flavors into a long, seamless finish. Greatest Siran ever!

ABV: 14.5%. Founded in 1890, La Rioja Alta is arguably the traditional Rioja bodega whose entire range of wines is the most consistent, the most readily available, and the most delicious. Their "904" bottling contains Tempranillo and Graciano (no Garnacha) and is every bit as traditional. It sees aging in used American oak barrels for 48 months, racking twice a year, and then further aging in bottle. The wine always has a sumptuous, velvety texture, with more bass notes in place of Ardanza's higher toned, red-fruited profile. Does Gran Reserva Rioja get any better than this?

Appellation: Côtes de Bourg. ABV: 13.5%. This is a classic, juicy and uplifting claret from the Right Bank appellation of Côtes de Bourg in Bordeaux. This small region sits directly across the river from Margaux, on a bed of limestone and clay. Château Rousselle is a venerable estate, founded long ago in 1636, and is one of the top chateaux classified in the Cru Bourgeois ranking. Merlot dominates this medium-bodied blend, fleshed out with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. The aromas are plummy and spicy with a hint of cedar, and your first sip will reveal dark black currant, mocha and a note of vanilla from French oak casks

ABV: 15%. This wine has a signature style that is dark in color, with rich fruit and ripe, velvety tannins, as approachable in youth as in maturity. Caymus farms Cabernet grapes in eight of Napa's 16 sub-appellations, with diversification enabling the winery to make the best possible wine in a given year. This Cabernet offers layered, lush aromas and flavors, including cocoa, cassis and ripe dark berries

Appellation: Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru. ABV: 13%. Smoke, meat, red fruit. Dry tannins and ripe fruit, wonderful balance of the two. Violets, tangy acid, bright finish. Classic pinot from a classic region!

Appellation: Toscana IGT. ABV: 14.5%. The 2013 Flaccianello della Pieve is a commanding wine and a strong protagonist of both the vintage and its territory. Connoisseurs of Sangiovese will be hard pressed to find a wine more authentic, elegant, complex and pristine than this. I am a huge fan of the 2013 vintage in Chianti Classico and the Flaccianello della Pieva is one big reason for this love affair. The bouquet is gorgeous and delineated with wild berry, tangy spice, crushed mineral and forest flower. Yet, the wine's color is dark, brooding and austere. The wine offers exuberance and energy in the mouth, thanks to its balanced acidity and seemingly never-ending finish

ABV: 15%. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon has a seriously plummy and spice box-inspired nose with underlying baked blackberries and kirsch notes plus hints of sandalwood, Bovril and potpourri. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers a riper, berry preserves expression of the valley, packed with exotic spices and floral undertones, finishing long and chewy

ABV: 20%. Among the most saturated blue/purple/black-colored examples of the vintage, Taylor's 2000 tastes like a young vintage of Chateau Latour on steroids. Aromas of graphite, blackberry liqueur, creme de cassis and smoke jump from the glass. Spectacularly concentrated and enormously endowed, with sweetness allied to ripe tannin, decent acidity, and layer upon layer of fruit and extract, this is the leading candidate for the port of the vintage

Appellation: Bolgheri DOC Superiore. ABV: 14%.

ABV: 14.5%. Inky garnet in color, the Kathryn Hall Cabernet Sauvignon exudes warmth and allure. Effusive aromas of ripe dark cherry , spiced chocolate , dusty earth and raspberry compote spill from the glass. The entry is voluptuous, supple, and opulent, while the mid-palate features enticingly decadent dark fruit and lengthy, sweet tannins, almost defying the boundaries of richness. 95 Cabernet Sauvignon, 4 Merlot, 1 Petit Verdot

Appellation: Yountville. The 2014s, where the production of Napanook was only 2,200 cases and Dominus slightly more than the 2015 at 4,000 cases, was another early harvest, although somewhat later than 2015. The 2014 Dominus, which is 86 Cabernet Sauvignon, 7 Cabernet Franc and 7 Petit Verdot really struts its stuff. Moueix's belief in dry farming seems to be paying off with stronger and stronger vintages, each successive year, and the 2014 is a sexy, opulent, layered, multidimensional wine with notes of red and blackcurrant, cedar wood, tobacco leaf , spice box and licorice. The color is a dense plum/ruby/purple, much like the Napanook. This is a beauty that is already drinking gorgeously as most 2014s are

ABV: 12%. This Chardonnay leaps out of the glass with expressive aromas of white flowers, baked pear and orange blossom. This wine brings with it a bright mid palate, vibrant acidity and a refreshing, lingering finish. A delightful layer of stonefruit and minerality make this Chardonnay an ideal match for a range of different dishes

ABV: 13%. Leggiero offers up a balance of green apple, quince and key lime pie. The palate is harmonious with a great burst of lemon puff and green apple on the mid-palate that plays into a mineral infused finish

Appellation: Okanagan Valley. Produced only in exceptional years, the Swear to God is estate grown. The palate is complex with lemon, apple, butterscotch, and vanilla; the oak is perfectly integrated and balanced by the structure, alcohol and acidity of the wine. All flavours remain in the long lingering finish

ABV: 13%. There's an aromatic sweetness in buoyant assistance to what is ostensibly savoury chardonnay, though also liquid dusty and spice cupboard melting through swaths of fruit. High level example with all available and averrable advantages in pocket, starting in the vineyard and following through right to the end of the winemaking processes

ABV: 14%. An elegant terroir-driven Chardonnay, Dilemma shows expressive aromas of ripe citrus, stone fruit, and fresh chamomile flowers. Soft peach flavours anchor a textural, mineral-driven palate, taut with fresh acidity and subtle chestnut flavours. Clasically structured and restrained, the toasty oak finish is long, savory, and bright

ABV: 14%. The nose is nutty with lightly baked green apple notes that follows onto the palate with flecks of honey. The style is slightly austere, with prominent acid all perfectly balanced by a hazelnut, buttery, citrus/green apple flavour profile. The McLean Creek Road Vineyard, owned by the Meyer family, is in Okanagan Falls. It has a steep southerly aspect; the soil is a mix of gravel and sandy loams. There are two separate blocks of chardonnay giving winemaker Chris Carson more options and complexity

ABV: 14%. Painted Rock's Chardonnay combines French Oak and Stainless Steel ageing to produce this complex and aromatic white. The nose fills with bright citrus, ripe stone fruit, and minerality, while the dry and crisp palate combines flavours of citrus, tropical fruit, spiced nuts, and freshly baked bread

ABV: 12%. Blind Creek Chardonnay is rich, full, lush and refined, but the roundness is balanced by a vibrant acidity that offers a long, refreshing finish. Apricot and white stone fruit envelope both the nose and palate. Great intensity and fresh lengthy finish

ABV: 13.5%. An extremely complex wine with aromas of yellow peach, melon, perfume, almonds and caramelized oak with hints of graphite. The palate has a rich entry with flavours of peach and apricot. It maintains richness throughout its length, backed by fresh acidity and a salty finish

ABV: 13%. White gold honey in colour with vibrant aromas of white peaches and apricots. The first sip brings flavours of sun-ripened nectarines and ripe pears. The finish lingers with Granny Smith apples and freshly picked apricots. Balanced acidity and refreshing

Appellation: Okanagan Valley. Ripe expressions of pear, honeydew melon and nectarines, with white flower, cardamom and pine needle undertones. The palate has a mouth-filling richness with layers of orchard fruits, cantaloupe and yellow plum, balanced with hints of mandarin rind and a chalky minerality

Appellation: Lake Country. ABV: 13.5%. A richly fruited wine with pear, red apple, nectarine and ripe peach flavours prominent. Full bodied and generous, with juicy stonefruit and pear flavours finishing crisp and fresh. Bright and lively acidity with a fresh and balanced persistence

ABV: 13%. Delightful, dry, medium bodied, fruity white wine. It opens with aromas of white flowers, ripe pear, red apple and stone fruit flavours with hints of spice and subtle mineral notes. The palate has great fruit intensity balanced by crisp, citrusy acidity and a long finish. The restrained use of quality French oak adds weight, mouthfeel and structure to this elegant wine

ABV: 13.5%. Aromas of meyer lemons and blood orange are intense on this wine. These continue as flavours on a full-bodied palate, which is bright with refreshing acidity. All of the above continue through a long, crisp finish with an added sesame flavour. Very versatile for food, try it with satay, sushi, ginger, grilled white fish, and charcuterie to name a few

ABV: 13%. This wine includes the first harvest from the Viognier block planted several years ago on the estate. The wine has aromas and flavours of stone fruit. There are also hints of pineapple and quince on the finish, along with a spine of tannin to give discipline to the structure. Great food pairing wine!

ABV: 12%. Crisp, crunchy pink grapefruit, passionfruit and orange fill this bright, and unique white pinot noir. From Summerland's Golden Retreat vineyard, this is full of ripe and sun-drenched orchard fruit, felt in the bump of residual sugar on the medium+ palate and finish. Very delicious and very easy to drink!

ABV: 12.3%. The complexity of this off dry wine begins with honeysuckle and wildflower aromas, followed by fresh stone fruit and citrus flavours on the palate with bright, crisp acidity

Appellation: Naramata Bench. This crisp focussed style was slowly cold fermented in stainless steel, retaining the delicate aromatics and a punchy tropical crispness. Incredibly well balanced with refreshing citrus and green apples flavours, mouthwatering acidity and a lush full body with the perfect amount of sweetness

ABV: 12.5%. Road 13 used neutral barrels and stainless steel fermentation, with an aging process of 5 months, to make the Old Vines Chenin Blanc. A complex nose of quince, pear, and honey, with an equally complex palate of quince paste, key lime, minerality, and honey. Acidic with a long finish, this wine is great for ageing

Appellation: Okanagan Valley. Medium lemon colour. Peaches, apples, with hints of lees and white flowers. With some decanting you get a hint of petrol and honey as well. Off-dry, medium plus body and intensity of flavour. Round and heavier mouth feel with a slight acidic prickle on your tongue. Honeysuckle, ripe pears, overripe apricots and a hint of petrol on the palate. With decanting the petrol and apricot flavours lessen. A bit peppery on the finish together with mouth watering acidity. An excellent, complex wine. Acidity balances with the developing fruit flavours

ABV: 14%. Our 100 estate grown Viognier offers a brilliant nose of lime zest, honeysuckle and vanilla notes followed by aromas of peach and pineapple with hints of honey and tangerine. Tones of straw yellow and light gold appear in the glass leading to a palate that shows a creamy, full-bodied texture that is balanced by crisp acidity. Flavours of grapefruit, lime, fresh rose petal, honey and cloves produce a long, lush and concentrated finish

ABV: 13.5%. Rhone inspired, this is the third vintage of our flagship white wine. Bright aromas of stone fruit, citrus and whispers of perfumed floral notes rise from the glass. ABV: 12%. The first orange wine from Similkameen's organic Little Farm Winery, this riesling was foot trodden and left to ferment on the skins with native yeasts before gentle pressing to stainless. Rhys and Alishan were thinking they'd transfer it to neutral barrel, but after tasting this characterful wine, decided to bottle it unfined and unfiltered after six months on the lees. Glowing orange hue, this streams apricot oil and tangerine oil on a lean, tight, nimble frame. Green apple skin, salt are finely grippy on the palate, finishing on a snappy note. Authentic, impressive, smashable

ABV: 13.3%. This expressive nose opens up with cherry blossoms, cotton candy, strawberry patch & cream soda. On the palate you are met with white cherries, fresh strawberries, white peach & white currents. The soft and fresh mouthfeel ends with crab apple, nectarine & strawberry shortcake

Stoller's Rosé Willamette Valley shows alluring aromatics of ripe stone fruit and strawberry. The palate displays flavors of watermelon and key lime with a mouthwatering acidity and lingering notes of minerality on the finish

ABV: 13%. A blend of Merlot (53), Malbec (25) Cabernet Franc (16) and Cabernet Sauvignon (6) from Arise Bench. Appellation: Tavel. ABV: 12%. This is a rose of couturier, with notes of red fruits, of peaches, presenting a ample mouth combining spices, flavors and balance. Wonderfully persistent yet integrated acidity. This wine is very fresh and has a wonderful finish. A truly great food wine!

Whispering Angel is today's worldwide reference for Provence rosé. Pale in colour, while the rewarding taste profile is full and lush while being bone dry with a smooth finish. Created by Sacha Lichine following his acquisition of Château d'Esclans in 2006, his vision was to create the greatest rosés in the world igniting the "Rosé Renaissance". Sacha introduced new and innovative winemaking techniques to Provence which revolutionized the styles of rosés being produced from this region. A blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Rolle (Vermentino)

ABV: 13%. The Riverstone Chardonnay exhibits youthful hues of light to medium straw. The enticing aromas are reminiscent of peaches, tangerine, yellow floral, baking spices, vanilla, and cocoa. ABV: 13%. Angove Family Winemakers is a 5th Generation, family owned winery with a dedication to creating premium wines from across South Australia's best regions with a focus on McLaren Vale. Most of the wines are single vineyard sourced. Pale yellow with green hues. White peach, cantaloupe, lemon peel and spiced French oak aromas lead to a crisp lifted palate, while a soft creamy texture gives length followed by a clean fresh finish

ABV: 14%. A flinty smoke aroma greets the nose first on this well-priced bottling from the Jackson family, with roasted Marcona almond, toasted brioche and seared lemon also showing. Appellation: Chablis. ABV: 12.5%. Louis Jadot Chablis is a fresh and lively style of Chardonnay with flavours such as lemon, lime and Granny Smith green apple. The wine is un-oaked, which is typical of the region, allowing the fresh fruit and underlying minerality to shine through

The wines of Domaine Louis Michel epitomize top Chablis. They are pure, precise, and incredibly elegant in a lean, steely style that, while understated, remain incredibly complex and powerfully structured. Established in 1850, the estate has passed down from one generation to the next, to its present day configuration of 25-hectares graced with prime vineyard locations in three Grand Cru terroirs (Les Clos, Grenouilles, Vaudésir) and eight Premier Cru sites, as well as Chablis and Petit Chablis holdings

ABV: 13.5%. In 1987, Borgo del Tiglio expanded their vineyards with a purchase of some land in a nearby valley and one of the grapes planted was Chardonnay; this was the only variety that produced wine of the quality aimed for and shortly after most of the other varieties were replaced by Chardonnay vines. The grapes are lightly pressed and juice barrel-fermented in small French oak barrels; the wine stays in barrel for around a year. The wine has a bouquet reminiscent of melted butter and vanilla cream over tropical fruit nuances, beautifully structured and balanced. The finish is graced with minerality and baking spice

'Hillview Vineyard' is expressive and persistent on the palate. Vibrant and well-structured. This wine delivers aromas and flavours of crisp apples, fresh pears, oak, a streak of minerality. It has a richness of pronounced oak that works well with the soft texture and overriding opulence

Appellation: Chablis Premier Cru. ABV: 13%. The 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume—which hails, as usual, from the lieu-dit Vaulorent that neighbors Les Preuses—is lovely, wafting from the glass with notes of white peach, dried flowers, Meyer lemon and honeycomb that, of all the Michel premiers crus, approaches the closest to grand cru range. On the palate, it's full-bodied, ample and multidimensional, with good depth and density and a pure, stony finish

Appellation: Savigny-Lès-Beaune 1er Cru. ABV: 13.5%. Pale gold color with green reflections. Aromas of white fruit flesh (apple), white flowers as well as spicy notes. Good acidity / fat balance

ABV: 14.5%. This wine has a beautiful golden hue and floral aromas that arise from the glass. Notes of lightly toasted bread are layered with warm cinnamon and nutmeg. Possesses well balanced acidity with a long finish. This wine presents loads of steely white currant, poached pear and apple butter, with a prominent minerality that compliments a beautifully sustained finish

Appellation: Pouilly-Fuisse AOP. ABV: 13.5%. Le Clos is extraordinarily rich with layer upon layer of ripe apple, pair, and spice. The finish is driven by mineral with a firm gripping acidity. Le Clos, a profound, powerful Chardonnay from the dense clay enclosure behind the chateau

ABV: 14.2%. The 2017 UV Vineyard Chardonnay leaps from the glass with an alluring nose of lemon curd, brioche, citrus blossom, crushed oyster shell, and dried thyme as a powerful introduction. The palate is focused with bright acidity on entry, leading to a broad palate casting a plethora of flavors ranging from Bartlett pear and lemon curd, brioche, pastry flour, and notes of crushed rock, all flowing to a mile-long finish

Appellation: Chassagne Montrachet AOP. Ripe and fresh aromas include those of citrus fruit, green apple, rosemary oil and white orchard fruit. Great definition and depth of flavours. There is both fine volume and richness to the delicious and attractively textured medium-bodied flavours that exhibit fine length on the ever-so-mildly rustic finish

ABV: 14%. This wine celebrates the fortieth Chardonnay harvest since the wine Mike Grgich made at Chateau Montelena won the Judgment of Paris tasting. He went on to found Grgich Hills, and now works with his nephew Ivo Jeramaz, who farms the winery's estate vineyard in Carneros organically, and barrel ferments this wine without added yeast. The 2015 is exotic, with scents of Asian pear, orange oil and cherimoya pointed up by honeyed spice. Jeramaz finds that honeyed character is tied to the maturity of the vines in the Carneros vineyard, planted to a mix of heritage clones. It feels cool and spicy, the structure underlined by oak, with the dynamism of the fruit persisting in a tangy finish

Appellation: Carneros. ABV: 12%. The warm vintage produced a Chardonnay that is a bit richer and more generous than has become the norm here in recent years, but the style of the wine is unchanged in its citrus and floral driven profile. A perennial powerhouse white, this delivers gorgeously constructed layers of rich pineapple, guava and mango, complemented by vanilla and baking spice from the oak. A steely midpalate shows bright acidity that lifts the concentration

Appellation: Chablis Grand Cru. ABV: 13.7%. Aromas of lemon oil, mandarin, honeycomb, iodine and leesy reduction introduce the 2016 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos, a full-bodied, multidimensional wine with excellent energy, concentration and chewy extract. It's the deepest and most reserved of all the wines in the cellar, and it will demand a few years of bottle age

Appellation: Meursault Premier Cru. ABV: 14%. Subtle bouquet of fruit and flowers combined with a slight hint of toasted nuts. Flavours of red apple, apricot and melon with well integrated French Oak. Fairly rich but refined, without the slightest heaviness and with the liveliness typical of Les Genevrières

Appellation: Russian River Valley. ABV: 14%. Dumol Chardonnay Russian River Valley opens with honeycomb, warm peaches and pear tart with a spicy undercurrent of ginger, anise and fennel seed plus wafts of pie crust and lemongrass. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers mouth-filling peaches and pears flavors with a racy acid line and nice, long finish

Appellation: Chablis Grand Cru 'Valmur'. ABV: 14%. This is the coolest and freshest of the Grand Cru vineyards. The wine is tight, steely with a nervy core of acidity that gives it a textured, structured character. It is full of energy, crisp, packed with green apple and fresh, lively citrus fruit flavours

Appellation: Cotes de Blaye. ABV: 12.5%. Grapey, floral and fresh from the first glass to the last. Also finding zesty and concentrated lilies, a spicy white floral, juicy peaches and tropical notes of pineapple

ABV: 12%. Light straw with yellow and green hues. Aromas of citrus and tropical fruits backed by characteristic herbaceous notes for which Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is renowned. An exuberant wine brimming with juicy acidity and fruit sweetness, providing a balanced flavour profile. The finish is fresh, zesty, and lingering

ABV: 12.5%. Jenny Wagner, youngest child of Chuck Wagner (of Caymus fame), is the winemaker at Emmolo, which is named after her mother Cheryl Emmolo. A light straw colour, this wine features scents of melon and lavender, layered with soft notes of wet stone that call to mind a late summer rain. Entry on the palate is light and then builds, with flavours that are just on the edge of ripeness, from peaches to bright citrus. A flinty character lingers throughout, and the finish trails off with a balance of fruit and acidity, leaving a crisp and refreshing final impression

ABV: 13%. Born in the glorious 2016 vintage, this year's Sauvignon Blanc is a revelrous elixir that flourishes a multitudinous array of citrus tinged aromas and flavors. The exceedingly seductive perfume of orange blossom, pink fleshed grapefruit, and warm lemon soufflé entices, whilst restorative verdant notes ascend out of the glass and meld with hints of lemon verbena, tarragon, and ginger. The entrance boasts a brace of lemon candy across the palate followed by an unraveling of lemon meringue, tangerine marmalade, and lychee flavors. With air the wine further complexes and is punctuated by plump apricots, toasted brioche, and crushed chalk. His time in Italy inspired his Vino wines, which include a Pinot Grigio, a red Cabernet/Sangiovese blend and a Sangiovese rosé. This PG sings with peach and citrus flavours, and it will make a fine pairing for grilled seafood

ABV: 14%. The 2017 Illahe pinot gris starts with a light bouquet of pear, chamomile, and citrus notes of orange and lemon zest. The lush body offers a creamy mouthfeel, followed by hints of wet stone, kiwi, and mineral notes. This pinot gris sustains a long-lasting finish having been vinified half in neutral oak. This new vintage was barrel fermented, which fleshes out the flavors and brings some tropical notes along with the tart flavors of fresh pear. Young, sleek and showing a pleasing, wet stone minerality, this is styled for near-term enjoyment, perhaps with fresh halibut, swordfish or white salmon

ABV: 14%. From a renowned producer of the Rhône valley, La Tournée is a typical bistro wine made of Vermentino and Viognier grown in the warm and sunny Languedoc. After being harvested at night to protect grapes from oxidation and preserve freshness, the wine was aged in vats on fine lees to bring some complexity. The nose shows aromas of citrus and grapefruit and the palate is fresh, fruity - ripe yellow fruit - and with good acidity

Lime citrus, stoney flint, white fruit, it rocked with complexity. Well balanced, bright acidity, and full bodied. A blend of Roussanne and Viognier

The flavour is extremely rich and complex. Full and slightly creamy on the tongue, while at the same time expressed great freshness. Lively acidity and fresh fruitiness give a decisive contribution to the charm and complexity of flavours. Balanced and vibrant acids with spicy notes like hazelnut

Appellation: Greco di Tufo DOCG. ABV: 12%. There are seven types of the ancient variety greco in Italy, all of which are rich in polyphenols and anthocyanins, and resulting in a white wine with an unusually golden yellow and light tannins. Certainly evident here in this striking example, with a shining gold hue leading to light honey, quince, wild herbs, ample salts and broken stone. Great concentration on the expansive palate, all pinned with lovely refreshing acidity and tucked with that fine grip of tannins. Organically farmed fifteen year old vines from a clay soiled single vineyard at 520m ferment in small oak and stainless steel (30/70) for a month before resting on fine lees in larger vessels for seven months. Quintodecimo is an exciting advocate for native grapes of Campania, and his wines worth seeking out

Appellation: Châteauneuf-du-Pape. ABV: 13.5%. From sandy soils on the west side of the Rhone river near Laudun. Golden yellow with green undertones, bright and clean. Very intense on the nose with ripe yellow and white stone fruits (apricot and peach) and white flowers bringing freshness. Round and full, very balanced with a long mineral finish. 80 Clairette, 20 Roussane

ABV: 8%. The 2016 Graacher Himmelreich Kabinett is deep, cool and flinty on the nose, pretty mineral though still a bit reductive. Round, intense and juicy, this is a densely woven Kabinett with ripe nectarine and plummy flavors as well as a tightly woven and refreshing mineral structure. The finish is pretty persistent and extremely stimulating. Compared to the Badstube, the Himmelreich is more aromatic and expressive

Appellation: Okanagan Valley. This is New World style Pinot Noir that is fruit forward on the nose with aromas of black cherries, plum and black currants. On the palate, the fruit continues with hints of coffee, chocolate, vanilla and spice. This Pinot Noir is rich, and elegant with a lingering finish

ABV: 13%. Beautifully fragranced Pinot Noir from the Naramata Bench in Penticton. Raspberry, currants and cherry with well integrated baking spices and fine grain tannin make this powerful pinot a great food wine

Meyer Family Vineyards makes several single vineyard wines from both Pinot noir and Chardonnay. This is the latest from the home estate in Okanagan Falls: McLean Creek Road Vineyard. Fresh dark raspberry, black cherry and cranberry wrapped around a ripe core of fruit, notes of leather and spiced cedar on the way to a refreshing finish

ABV: 13%. Dark in colour, this wine begins with aromas of spice and dark fruit, followed by layers of concentrated flavour. The finish is elegant with classic velvet tannins

ABV: 13.5%. One of the best we have tasted from the Carson/Kemp camp in a tricky year. We love the delicate pinot character here the strawberry raspberry nuances and the fresh earthy, forest floor notes. Pure, terroir-focused and eminently drinkable now. We (they) can do this. The fruit, all from the 115 clone, comes off a steep, 1.5 acre, sand over clay site facing south west. Made by hand and aged 8 months in about 25-30 percent French oak

The Stewart Family Reserve is the winery's flagship red. The fruit comes off the slopes of Mt. Boucherie, adjacent to the winery in West Kelowna. Each year only the finest blocks make it to the Reserve, that totals just under 14,000 bottles. Complex flavours of red and blue berry fruit, forest floor, cedar cherry with a streak of spicy new oak. The attack is similar, with mineral, savoury and black raspberry with just enough acid pushing back across the length of the palate to keep it balanced

ABV: 12.5%. Only 83 cases produced, this wine comes from grapes grown on an old apple orchard. It spent 12 months in new French oak barrels. Expect a gorgeous prototypical nose of wild cherries and botanical, raspberries and dried violets atop leather, rainforest floor, sweet spices and bacon fat. It is silky and well-woven; feminine in style with expressive sweet fruit. Juicy and chic with a lengthy tealeaf flavoured finish

ABV: 13.5%. The small lot barrel reserve is just that: the best of the best bottled in small amounts. The blend is a mix of French clones 777,667 and 115 and the style is big and rich and spicy. The palate is a mix of ripe, jammy berry flavours, with a finish long, warm and spicy. There is that northern savoury undercurrent with bits of thyme and sagebrush to add complexity. The tannins are round and very approachable

ABV: 13%. The Gold label is all about richness and power, what they call their autumnal pinot. Spiced black fruits, truffles, and savoury Okanagan dried herbs mark the palate of this warm, rich, sweet pinot that's more Russian River than Naramata. The finish is a mix of smoke with a lick of sweet balsamic

ABV: 13%. These are early days for this label, but Naramata Ranch, first planted in 2008 with several blocks added at different elevations and expositions, has become a wonderland of meso-climates for BC pinot noir. Mid-valley temperatures are just warm enough to invite the richer style of New World pinot noir while the it remains cool enough to be somewhat spare in style too. The soils, or perhaps better said rocks, are red granite rock on the surface over granite bedrock with no grass or cover crop. The aromas are savoury and earthy with juicy flavours of cranberries, red currants and smoky spicy licorice with a whiff of Ponderosa pine. Its the elegance of this wine that attracts. The wine is made with equal parts of the three clones Pommard, 943 and 667 that spends seventeen months in extra tight grain French oak. It is bottled unfiltered, in this case, at 14 percent alcohol

ABV: 14%. Our 2016 Merlot has a vibrant brick red colour. Aromas of spiced plums and ripe blackberries leads to fruit cake with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. On the palate, spiced dark fruit and cedar gives way to cured meat flavours that shows excellent structure and body. The acidic backbone holds it all together nicely as it finishes with mouth-coating tannins and a hint of mint

ABV: 14.5%. A mix of brambly red berry fruit on the nose with paprika, roasted red pepper, stewed plum, black cherry, dark chocolate and violet along with some sweet vanillin pastry crust. The palate is dry, full bodied and has nice vibrant mixed red and black brambly berry fruit, crisp acidity, the punch of blackberry, juiciness of plum, blueberry, smooth tannins and dark chocolate, dried thyme and some dusty earth

ABV: 14.5%. Overall the wine has fantastic layers of flavour and nuances. Bing cherry mingles with red and black cherry fruit. Herbal underbrush notes meet tobacco notes and damp earth. The Fortissimo is comprised of 63 Merlot, 17 Cabernet Sauvignon, 11 Sangiovese and 9 Cabernet Franc

Aromatics of blackberry and raspberry bramble fruits are mirrored on the palate, conjuring up flavors of rich dark chocolate. ABV: 14%. From the incredible Hans Estate Vineyard deep in the soul of Osoyoos, we combined Syrah and Malbec this vintage. Raised in all new French oak for 18 months, the goal was to make a wine of opulence, texture and most of all, big flavour. Some might describe this wine as a velvet slipper and I shan't disagree. Not that I ever did. The Syrah contributed structure, black pepper and boysenberry while the Malbec rounded it all out with some black cherry charm, luscious pluminess, and both pop out notes of lilac and lavender. Yes, this wine does have it going on. A blend of Merlot, Malbec and Syrah

ABV: 14%. Sweet vanilla, spice and ripe berry and black plum on the nose. The palate shows more ripe black berries and mocha, balanced with French oak and vibrant acidity. A well balanced and structured wine. 92 Points: Dark in colour, this brooding Merlot begins with aromas of plum, cassis and spice, leading to flavours of cassis and blueberry. There is a hint of chocolate and espresso on the finish. This is another wine that benefits from decanting, to allow the concentrated texture to reveal the aromas and flavours. ABV: 14.5%. This vibrant red displays black cherry and licorice notes which are framed by hints of mint chocolate and orange peel. The 2014 Quatrain is a rich and dense red with a long savoury aftertaste that is reminiscent of mincemeat tarts. Balanced with a firm, earthy finish

ABV: 15%. Maestoso is always opaque in colour and 2016 is no different. On the nose, one finds pronounced notes of dark bramble fruit, coffee, black cherries, forest floor and vintage cigar box. Huge mouth coating velvety tannins lead through to an astonishing finish lasting well over a minute. The structure and acidity of the 2016 vintage mean longer than normal ageing requirement before the wine is settled down. A monumental wine indeed that restores wine lover's faith in Merlot

Appellation: Black Sage Bench. ABV: 14.5%. The wine is a blend of 45.4 Merlot, 30 Cabernet Sauvignon and 24.6 Cabernet Franc. The wine was aged between 20 and 22 months in French oak. The wine begins with deep and complex aromas of cassis, vanilla, spice and dark cherry. On the palate, there are layered flavours of black cherry, plum, cassis, chocolate and tobacco. It is a sveltely polished wine with long, silky tannins. The wine is drinking well now but will continue to improve in the bottle for five to eight years

ABV: 14%. An expressive nose of earth and red berries with bits of sage and chocolate on this massive wine. The attack is soft and round with vanilla, black raspberry, cinnamon and dry crushed leaf notes. Great intensity and finish

ABV: 14.5%. Grapes grown on the Black Sage bench were selected to create this elegant blend of 47 Cabernet Sauvignon, 41 Merlot and 12 Cabernet Franc. This Bordeaux style wine spent 19 months in French oak. Rich with characteristics of dark berries, figs, ripe plums and sweet spices. This is a big structured wine with firm tannins and balanced acidity. Decant and enjoy now or cellar up to 2030. The grapes were handpicked exclusively from the Black Sage Bench in October of 2015. Fermented in stainless tanks, the 2015 Night was aged for 19 months in French Oak barrels. A careful hand was used in blending the individual varietals to achieve a wine with distinction and finesse and balance

Soft berry fruit, plush texture and an earthy salinity, fine tannins, persistent acidity. Aged 18 months in 40 new French oak. Unfined and unfiltered

ABV: 14%. The unconventional folks at The Hatch had no name for this wine so it was dubbed. The Unicorn and still is. It's the latest Hatch wine and it has assumed the flagship role for the moment. A handful of barrels of cabernet franc and merlot gleaned from Desert Valley Vineyard is the source for this dark and brooding red. What looks big and weighty is in fact super fresh and linear: where a little California and a little northern Italy meets a lot of Okanagan. The acidity tends to dry out the red cherry finish, giving it a bit of an Italian profile, but a big juicy steak will smooth it all out at this stage

ABV: 14.5%. Rich intensity begins with deep garnet hues in the glass. Bold aromas of cassis and black cherry arrive rst with a strong and sultry backbone of dark chocolate. Our Legacy's prominent and considerably big mouthfeel is a culmination of plums, vanilla, and blackberries. With time this wine gains both subtlety and complexity as tannins soften and flavours develop

ABV: 13.8%. Intense aromas of black plum and raspberry meld with complex violet and potpourri floral notes along with some dried sage, black liquorice, charred meat, dark chocolate and a graphite minerality. The palate shows fine, dusty, integrated tannins and crisp acidity along with fresh sun-warmed berries, clove infused shortbread, some pepper and a long finish of salty minerality and dried herbs

ABV: 14.5%. This is the antithesis of the MHFE Terroir Series but as different as it is they are equals in many ways. Near to Vista Edge, this special bottling comes off Desert Ridge, another Osoyoos vineyard. The fruit is naturally fermented in clay without sulphur and is unfiltered. The nose is fragrant with rich floral undertones and bits of roasted tomato, black fruits, wild blueberry, over a super soft, supple palate. Full bodied yet light footed!

Appellation: Black Sage Bench. ABV: 14%. The 2012 is distinctive, with black currant and Italian plum aromas and flavours up front, but also displays blackberry, with wild herb and star anise notes. Elegant and concentrated, this wine presents a core of fruit accented by youthful tannins that will soften in the short term. 42 Cabernet Sauvignon, 41 Merlot, 17 Cabernet Franc

Appellation: Okanagan Valley. It is with great excitement that we introduce our first ever King's Ransom Cabernet Sauvignon! 2015 was a phenomenal vintage in the Okanagan Valley and we can say with great certainty that this wine is truly a remarkable terroir driven wine that speaks to the superiority of its vintage. Rich aromas of cassis, plum and anise are followed by layers of complexity and sophistication on the palate; cocoa and cherry notes are reminiscent of decadent black forest cake with hints of leather and cigar box. All that's missing is your smoking jacket!

ABV: 14.5%. The best barrels are always chosen for this wine, with the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes usually coming from a later picking to add to the complexity. The wine is stored for longer periods of time in the barrel. (anywhere from 14 to 20 months.) The time on the skins is usually longer, again to achieve a deeper colour and more concentrated flavour. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot

Appellation: Okanagan Valley. ABV: 14%. A lush and enjoyable Malbec with dark fruit notes, especially black cherry. Soft grained tannins and a wonderful persistent finish round out the palate

Stags Hollow Syrah is an elegant and floral style, due in large part to a portion of the wine being co-fermented with Viognier. The lifted aromatics of violets and white pepper complement the ripe fruit profile of blackberries and dark fruit. This wine is unfined and lightly filtered

ABV: 13.6%. The Similkameen Valley is becoming a premier Canadian wine region... hot, dry and terribly rocky soil sounds like an excellent place for big reds, no? This Syrah delivers a nose that blends together baking spices and dried fruits. Thick, with grabby tannins, dark plums, and figs, strong mouthwatering acidity and hits of pepper on the finish

Aromas of wild violets, smoke, vanilla spice and fleshy black cherry. The wine is aged for 15 months in 60 American and 40 French oak barrels

A ripe and intense wine with pronounced aromas of damson plum, milk chocolate, custard, blackberry, black olive and dark cherry with smoked paprika and a background of freshly ground black pepper. The palate is full and rich yet balanced with refreshing acidity with the chocolaty oak flavours giving way to blackberry, dried cherry and plum along with complex hints of leather, pepper, mint and dried thyme all with an undercurrent of dusty and earthy ripe tannins that provide great length

ABV: 14.5%. This is 92 Syrah co-fermented with 8 Viognier in the classic style of the Rhone. This wine has been aged 18 months in French and American barrels, again 60 new. Powerful aromas explode from the glass: white and black pepper, gamy red fruit, chocolate and licorice. All of this is echoed on the palate, along with flavours of plum, figs, black olives and leather

This 100 acre vineyard was planted in 1999 at the northern tip of the Osoyoos Bench. Planted to clones 99 and 100, this south facing vineyard site is a theoretical combination of the Santa Ynez Valley and St. Joseph in the style of wines that have emerged from it. Sustainably farmed, this vintage was cropped at 3 tons per acre. All destemmed after gentle sorting at the winery, this wine was fermented slowly at 25 degrees Celsius to fully maximize extraction of the abundantly ripe fruit. After fermentation was complete, the wine was finished in a mix of new and older French oak (50/50) for 16 months. This vintage has an incredible mixture of concentration and elegance. Despite the intensity at this stage, the wine remains beautifully smooth and pleasant to drink at this point, but shows enough stuffing to it that indicates it will have a long and complex life ahead

ABV: 15.3%. Dead of the Night is a 50/50 mix of syrah/tannat, grown on the Osoyoos East bench area that is the unofficial flagship red of the winery. The nose is rich and brooding with floral, black fruits drenched in earthy meaty, savoury notes and some substantial tannins. A truely great wine to pair with ribeye or a New York

ABV: 15%. Wow. First class syrah here, a big step up from the Le Vieux Pin's already very good "regular" syrah. This has incredibly dense and complex flavours spanning the spectrum from smoke and tar to ripe but not jammy fruit, garrigue, liquorice, faded roses and violets, and top notch dark chocolate. The palate is really well balanced and poised, with terrific flavour intensity without excessive extraction, just well-managed tannins and juicy acidity, leading into a long, long finish. Absolutely terrific

ABV: 13.5%. Aromas of blueberry and sweet cream intertwine with lighter notes of thyme, rolled oats, and gravel. This bright and juicy Pinot Noir showcases delicate silty tannins and fig flesh texture. These textural components are joined by flavors of pomegranate, marjoram, and potting soil, which seamlessly transition through to the finish

ABV: 13%. The Dundee Hills Estate Pinot Noir captures and expresses the delicate fruit characteristics associated with this varietal, and it is balanced with structure and age-ability. In order to achieve this balance Sokol Blosser combines a couple of key distinctive winemaking techniques. They increase structure and complexity in the mouth feel through a lengthy post-fermentation maceration making up about 70 of this blend. To retain the pureness of the Pinot Noir fruit characters expressed early in fermentation, the other 30 has limited skin contact by removing the wine from the skins immediately following fermentation. The entire Estate is represented in this cuvee with a percentage of each block coming together in a single blend

ABV: 13%. This wine offers aromas of fresh raspberry, strawberry and white pepper. On the palate, it shows primary flavors of bing cherry and pomegranate, followed by secondary flavors of spice box and orange citrus. The finish is smooth, tart and polished

ABV: 13%. This solid, spicy and somewhat chewy Pinot is the most widely-available from the Trisaetum lineup. Hints of golden raisin, fig and plum lead into a smooth, chocolatey finish

A very spicy and fresh array of blueberries, ripe darker cherries and plums. Cassis aromas, too, as well as more savory notes of graphite and fragrant wood. The palate has very striking depth and presence with expansive, fleshy tannins carrying intense fruit flavors, in the darker spectrum of cherries and berries. Cocoa powder to close

ABV: 13.5%. Firm in texture, with a grip of tannins around generous red berry, tobacco and floral flavors, which persist into the lively, deftly balanced finish

Appellation: Yamhill-carlton. ABV: 13%. A multi-faceted nose of cherry, tobacco, violets and pastry introduces a wine with great purity of fruit. Its fresh, rounded notes of plums, currants and fresh candied cherries give way to finely balanced tannins in this elegant, bright wine

Appellation: Yamhill-carlton. ABV: 13.5%. This may well be the best of our Pinot Noirs from 2013. The vintage was very good to the Columbia Gorge appellation. It has great natural acidity, a beautiful mid-palate and a long finish - pure luscious cherry notes lingering on and on. Fresh flavors of berry fruit with spicy hints light acidity and tannins

Appellation: Yamhill Carlton District. The density of aromas of the Shea Vineyard are apparent before your nose even reaches the glass. Compellingly rich dark flowers, berries, sweet herbs and cassis. It is beautifully balanced given the intensity of the savory fruit and spice flavors arrayed across the mid-palate. The tannins are dense yet still well rounded and enhanced by just the right touch of acidity. It is gratifying that this ripe site in this warm vintage has many dimensions that will reveal themselves as it ages

Appellation: Dundee Hills Ava. Maison Louis Jadot, one of the most trusted and revered wine houses in the world, has been producing wines from the French region of Burgundy since 1826. For its first venture outside of France, the Louis Jadot team became interested in the terroir and wines from Oregon. Fresh, ripe and admirably pure aromas feature notes of black cherry, violet, spice and a hint of lavender. There is fine volume and mid-palate concentration to the delicious, succulent and plump medium-bodied flavors that possess a really lovely mouth feel, all wrapped in a dusty, compact and dry in the best sense finish that flashes just a touch of youthful austerity

ABV: 13%. Bergstorm has been farming from the Silice Vineyard for the past 15 years. The vineyard is set on sandy hills and the wine underwent whole cluster fermentation prior to bottling. This begins with pretty aromas of thyme, red cherry preserves and cigar box. The aromatic range is really nice. The palate is ;lithe as the wine reveals a soft, beautiful texture. Red cherry, red raspberry, forest floor and suggestions of baking spices all mingle nicely

ABV: 13%. This bold style Cabernet Sauvignon displays great complexity and structure. There are aromas of dark berry fruits and plum on the nose with chocolate and vanilla on the palate

Appellation: Columbia Valley. ABV: 15%. Aromas of plum, boysenberry, vanilla and spice carry the nose of this wine. The flavors are surprisingly elegant in style considering the warmth of the vintage and it shows a sense of sleekness that provides appeal

ABV: 14%. Made from 100 Cabernet Sauvignon, native fermented, aged in French oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered, it's a killer value that has lots of blue fruits, violets, graphite and leafy herbs in medium to full-bodied, concentrated, layered style

Complex aromas of black plum, licorice and high-toned oak on the nose. Supple and smooth with soft tannins. Plum and menthol flavours joined by pepper and herbs on the somewhat clenched finish. The wine is open and expressive

ABV: 14%. This wine comes from a new, yet-to-be approved growing region called The Burn. Borne of Fire epitomizes the terroir of The Burn. This rugged, yet elegant wine leads with herbal expressive aromas laced with pomegranate and stony minerals. Upon tasting the wine, powdery tannins frame flavors of cherry, currant, savory spice, and red pepper. A green coffee inflected finish rounds out the overall experience. 90 Cab 10 Malbec

Appellation: Yakima Valley. ABV: 14%. The largest production Bordeaux blend from this estate is their D2 release, which is named after the famed highway leading up to the Médoc from the city of Bordeaux. The 2015 D2 is 58 Merlot, 36 Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. It offers a Pomerol-like bouquet of black cherries, leafy herbs, graphite, and lead pencil, and is medium to full-bodied, seamless and elegant

Appellation: Red Mountain. ABV: 14%. This fragrant wine begins with alluring aromas of blackberry, plum and mountain huckleberry intermingled with brighter notes of Bing cherry and ripe wild strawberry. As it evolves in the glass, layers of anise and sarsaparilla are revealed, alongside hints of caramel and espresso from barrel aging

Appellation: Yakima Valley. ABV: 13.5%. Comprised of 91 Cabernet Sauvignon & 9 Cabernet Franc. The nose opens with ripe huckleberry, black currants, mint and jam. In the background is a complex array of basil, fennel, Cinnamon and liquid smoke. The palate has wonderful balance and breadth. The ripe tannins are well rounded and supported by a well integrated acidity that contributes to the vibrancy of the finish

Appellation: Red Mountain. ABV: 14.6%. Showing classic Red Mountain characteristics of dusty earth, graphite, savory fruits and dried violets, the 800-case 2013 Ciel du Cheval Vineyard is medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, elegant and layered on the palate, with present, savory tannin. Made from 56 Merlot and 44 Cabernet that spent 18 months in 35 new oak, this is one of the cases where the terroir supersedes the variety

Appellation: Wahluke Slope. ABV: 15%. The 2013 Super Substance Merlot Northridge is a serious effort that's reminiscent of a top flight Pomerol. It sports a deep ruby/purple color as well as ample black currants, plums, wet clay and earth in a rich, full-bodied, concentrated, layered package that's already hard to resist

ABV: 14.6%. A combination of red and black fruit. Intense mid palate concentration. Floral nose. Pencil, tobacco, cedar and integrated herbal notes. A bit of vanilla and baking spice from French oak. Ripe, but elegant. 86 Cabernet Sauvignon, 10 Merlot and 4 Petit Verdot

Appellation: Red Mountain. ABV: 15%. Parabellum is the second label for Force Majeure Vineyards out of Red Mountain in Washington State. All the fruit in this bottling is 100 from the estate vineyard. Made up of 42 Merlot, 35 Cabernet Sauvignon and 23 Cabernet Franc. Only 250 cases produced. Crème de cassis, lead pencil shavings, gravel and crushed rock all give way to a full-bodied, pure,... elegant

Appellation: Walla Walla Valley. ABV: 15%. For former NFL quarterback Drew Bledsoe, owning a winery has been a longtime aspiration that would allow him to combine his passion for fine wine and the love of the Walla Walla Valley. The wine from this fantastic vintage has intensely dark color. The nose displays an interesting combination of black and blue fruit sauté, crème cassis, and mixed floral notes paired with crushed fir needles, spice tea, and cedar shavings. From the first sip the wine is smooth, broad in its palate impression, rich and sweet. There is an almost unexplainable deliciousness factor that I find irresistible. The tannins are impeccably integrated, long, and soft with just enough heft to give the wine a solid backbone

Appellation: Walla Walla Valley. ABV: 14.3%. Founded by Gary Figgins in 1978, his son Chris Figgins has continued the legacy by shifting focus to the vineyards, converting to biodynamic practices, and re-confirming the family's status as a "benchmark Washington winery" (Wine Advocate). Penetratingly dark. Exhibiting a wonderfully complex nose of dried rosemary, sage, and lavender with subtle aromas of coffee and toffee. Remarkably refined with fantastic secondary notes – unusual in a wine this young. Delicious plum and blackberry saturate the palate and lead to a long and lush finish with soft tannins – truly emblematic of the delightful 2016 vintage. Blend: 82 Cabernet Sauvignon, 13 Petit Verdot, 3 Malbec, 2 Merlot

The 2013 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley is one of the finest wines they have made to date. It has an opaque purple color with vibrant flavors of raspberry, plum, cassis and fig fruit with nuances of violets, graphite, cedar and spice. This decadent wine coats the entire palate with its richness and generous flavor profile due to its wonderful silky texture and purity. Blend: 100 Cabernet Sauvignon. RP99. The Wine Advocate - "I think the wine of the vintage, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Columbia Valley is flat out sensational, and flirts with perfection. Its inky ruby/purple color is followed by incredible notes of cassis, black currants, smoked herbs, licorice and graphite. These give way to a full-bodied, utterly seamless Cabernet that has full-bodied richness, ultra-fine tannin and a killer finish. While it possesses the elegance and purity of the vintage, it has a stacked mid-palate, and deserves 4-5 years of cellaring. It will have two decades or more of overall longevity"

Appellation: Red Mountain. ABV: 14.6%. Dark purple, almost black color. Dried fig and blueberry compote. Chocolate cherry, black licorice and cinnamon spice. Just a hint smoke, leather and cocoa make for an interesting nose that you could smell for hours. The palate is rich and lush with flavors of earthy cocoa, blueberry pie and a pinch of cinnamon. The finish is long and very well structured. The Syrah from Hedges continues to make interesting and complex wines with a wonderful balance of concentration and immediate drinkability

Appellation: Snipes Mountain. ABV: 15%. There are a scant 290 cases of the 2011 Grenache Upland Vineyard to go around, and as with the 2012, it was fermented with 60 whole cluster and aged in 500 liter neutral French oak puncheons. It exhibits beautiful kirsch, spice, mineral and dried herb aromas and flavors to go with an elegant, yet full-bodied and nicely concentrated profile on the palate that has sweet tannin and superb focus on the finish

Appellation: Walla Walla Valley. ABV: 14%. The Wine Advocate - "Formerly called the Walla Walla Syrah, the 2013 Syrah The Deuce comes mostly from the Les Collines vineyard, yet also incorporates smaller amounts from Forgotten Hills and The Rocks vineyards. Aged 18 months in 10 new Puncheons, this sees slightly more whole clusters than the Columbia Valley Syrah, with almost 60 of the grapes fermented with no destemming. It has a lot of Rocks character in its meaty, pepper, lavender, olive and black and blue fruit-driven bouquet. This is followed by a full-bodied, concentrated and balanced Syrah that has solid tannic grip and good acidity. It will benefit from short-term cellaring and drink well for a decade after that

ABV: 14.5%. A Rhone-styled blend, the 2012 Besoleil is made from 50 Grenache, 20 Cinsault, 15 Syrah and 15 Mourvedre that's aged all in neutral oak. Gorgeous on all accounts, it has fantastic density and depth, with medium to full-bodied richness, beautiful freshness and classic Grenache-driven aromas and flavors of raspberry, black raspberry, pepper, herbs de Provence and flowers

Appellation: Red Mountain. ABV: 14.5%. A powerful, dense nucleus of black fruits, supported by layered complexity of violet, dusty gravel, leafy underbrush, spice and black olive. The palate is bold, vigorous and persistent, jammed with blackberry, black plum and spice

Appellation: Yakima Valley. ABV: 14.5%. The Boushey vineyard made great use of the warm late July and August, yielding small berries with thick skins, providing extraordinary density and richness. Supple and fleshy are hallmarks of this vineyard in any vintage, but in 2012 pack on more textural breadth, and add more of Syrah's wildness, a meaty, spicy, earthy nuance. It's inky black, with dark plums, creamy black fruits, generous smoke and anise, and yet it still retains its cool site vitality. Don't be deceived by its supple tannins and juicy approachability: this is one that will live a long life in the cellar

Appellation: Russian River Valley. ABV: 13.5%. Aromas of rose petals, pomegranate and a touch of nutmeg greet the nose. A velvety light body embraces the hints of strawberry and plum fruit with spicy toasted oak notes. The wine has bright acidity, a smooth long finish and is balanced with mild tannins. An elegant and tasteful Pinot Noir

Appellation: Monterey. ABV: 13%. On the nose, red plum, tea leaves, and coffee bean. On the palate, raspberry, red cherry, orange zest and classic Monterey minerality. A lingering finish of sweet baking spice

Appellation: Sonoma County. ABV: 14%. The Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is made from a blend declassified wines coming from throughout the Russian River Valley, from the Santa Rosa Flood Plain west to Green Valley. Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2015 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley has very pure aromas of black cherry and black raspberry with hints of violets and chocolate box. Medium to full-bodied and straight-up seductive with its gregarious fruit and voluptuous texture, it finishes with appealing freshness

Appellation: Sonoma Coast. ABV: 13.3%. Royal St. Robert Cuvee is named in the honor of our grandfather who taught us to be committed to excellence. This bottling is a selection of our finest barrels to represent this world class site in wine. The cuvee comes 100 from a cool hillside vineyard just north west of Freestone on the Sonoma Coast. Fresh cut wild strawberries fill the bowl with sweet resin, white tea, thyme, forest floor and rose petals. The texture is rich, complex with silky fine-grained tannins leading to a long sumptuous finish

Appellation: Fort Ross Seaview. ABV: 13%. Deep, ruby red center working its way to a brilliant edge in the glass. On the nose, notes of the cool Pacific air give way to wild strawberry, rose petals, wet stone and moss-covered trees. On the palate the wine is fresh, bright and structured with balanced acidity and fine-grained, youthful-tannins. The finish is persistent and fades to notes of raspberry, dried herbs and this coastal site lingering on your pallet

Appellation: Russian River Valley. ABV: 13%. Winemaker Celia Welch, one of the best California winemakers today, is most known for her efforts at Scarecrow, Corra, Barbour and Keever but her ability to tackle the more finnicky Pinot Noir grape is equally impressive and shines through with this 2014 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. Showing bold and ripe complexity with layers of dark red cherry, raspberry and subtle baking spice, this is one of our favorite RRV Pinots to date. There's great balance with the tannins and texture and on the palate, it's silky yet structured

Appellation: Sonoma Coast. ABV: 14.3%. A step up over the Russian River blend, the Sonoma Coast offers more red fruits, raspberries, flowers, and rose petal notes, with a pinewood/forest floor character developing with time in the glass. This medium-bodied, silky, elegant Pinot Noir has a terrific sense of minerality, integrated acidity, and a complex, nuanced style

Appellation: Russian River Valley. ABV: 14%. Each vintage, Kosta Browne showcases the character of Pinot Noir across California in a collection of appellation-specific blends. An earnest expression of the place reveals the shape of each wine. Crisp red fruit, freshness, and precision mark the Sonoma Coast blend that includes fruit from Gap's Crown, Kanzler, and Griffin's Lair vineyards. The Russian River Valley blend has that hallmark texture with a full mouthfeel and a broad palate of ripe raspberry, cherry, and pomegranate. An abstract playfulness runs wild through the Santa Lucia Highlands blend where five vineyard sources - all farmed by the infamous Garys (Pisoni & Franscioni) - contribute savory game flavors, whiffs of olives and dried fruits to a deeply structured wine. ABV: 14%. Grapes for this wine were sourced from Napa Valley's Oak Knoll district, which includes two family vineyards. The area's cooler weather, along with crop thinning and gravelly light soil, creates ideal conditions for producing a rich, distinctive Merlot. This wine is lush and supple on the palate, with expansive, dark berry flavours, a fresh earthiness, and smooth, leathery tannins. Showing substantial depth, the 2016 Emmolo Merlot stands out as a rather "bigger" example of this grape variety. The wine exhibits an attractive combination of red and blue fruits, with a streak of oak and dried leaves

Appellation: St Helena. ABV: 14.5%. This is a rich, inviting wine with characteristics of dried cranberry and red currant, replete with dusty, spicy tannins and spicy, spiked vanilla. Lush, the tannins are soft and supple, a tad smoky, and the secondary elements darker in smoke, black licorice and espresso. Burly, it's balanced and refined

This iconic wine from an iconic vintage shows subtle hints of dried rose petal support the enticing aromatics.Rebekah Wineburg in her last vintage with Buccella brings out luxurious tannins giving structure to the lush berry fruit, warm nutmeg spice and creamy milk, chocolate finish

Composed of 67 Merlot, 27 Cabernet Sauvignon and 6 Petit Verdot, the deep garnet-purple coloured 2016 Firebelle has a seductive nose of spiced black berries, black forest cake, preserved plums and kirsch with touches of eucalyptus, espresso, licorice and dried herbs. Medium to full-bodied, the spiced black fruit flavorus completely coat the palate with loads of mint and herbal sparks, framed by plush tannins and just enough freshness, finishing on a lingering aniseed note

Appellation: Oak Knoll District. Black Stallion is on point as an excellent example of its Napa Valley heritage. The wine is richly layered and softly approachable. ABV: 15%. Tuck Beckstoffer marked his first vintage in 1975 and founded The 75 Wine Company to honour the inspiration of that landmark year. In the mouth, there are layers upon layers of broad, sweet opulent fruit balanced by firm tannins, great acidity and oak. Grown on Hess Collection's 'Veeder Hills Vineyard', the traditional red fruit aromas and flavours of the dominant Cabernet Sauvignon are led by bright cherry and wild mountain raspberry with the addition of Malbec offering blueberry joined by notes of vanilla, cassis, creamy chocolate caramel and oak spice

ABV: 14.9%. Jayson displays a dense red colour in the glass. Aromas of cherry, blackberry jam, and ripe strawberry play over underlying hints of anise with a warm touch of cassis. The deep fruit extends over a smooth palate supported by well-integrated tannins. This is an appealing, approachable wine, with mouth-coating intensity and hints of chocolate on the finish. ABV: 13.9%. The 2014 Cabernet Franc 1 is made by Steve Matthaisson and comes from the volcanic, clay and sandy loam soils of vineyards in Los Carneros, Oak Knoll District and Yountville. The aromas are extreamly attractive, with lovely complexity, showing beautiful ripe blackberries, cassis, plum, dried herbs, fresh tobacco leaf and tree bark all coming together. A restrained yet beautifully polished Cabernet Franc, which is made in an old-world style with delicious black and red fruits along with a notable earthy green quality that lingers into the long, precise finish. This is a youthful wine that will continue to develop beautifully in the cellar for many years

As it unwinds in the glass it slowly begins to release pretty aromas of cassis and red plums, which are woven together with tobacco, herbs, crushed stones and classic Rutherford dusty nuances all taking shape. Beautifully structured, with fine tannins and showing incredible balance, focus and precision

Appellation: Napa Valley. ABV: 13.9%. At first, the nose reveals rose petal notes with a hint of peony, then it opens up with blackcurrant, dark cherry aromas and a pinch of licorice. The mouthfeel is unctuous and succulent with a savory black fruit sustained by tight tannins and a finish on blond tobacco notes. This may be the finest Altagracia to date, deeper and more concentrated than 2012, with a darker character and a great ageing potential. 80 Cabernet Sauvignon 10 Cabernet Franc,6 Petit Verdot,4 Malbec. Dark red berries and floral aromas kick things off. Loads of freshness, cocoa and black raspberries on the medium bodied palate, giving you layers of polished, sweet, dark, red fruits. The wine was made from a blend of 80 Cabernet Sauvignon, 10 Cabernet Franc, 6 Petit Verdot and 4 Malbec. Parker calls it "One of the finest Altagracias I've tasted to date, the color is saturated ruby/purple, much darker than the 2012 and also more concentrated and promising. The wine is a heck of a second wine, but does require some patience. For now, deep, rich blackcurrant and blackberry fruit with floral notes (white flowers?), medium to full body and sweet tannin are all present in this relatively larger-scaled Altagracia than we've seen in the past

ABV: 15%. Corra was established in 2004 by Celia Welch, who was one of Napa Valley's leading winemaking consultants. The wine is produced from Celia Welch's own vineyards located on Pritchard Hill and in Oakville/Rutherford. The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon was aged for 22 months in 70 new French oak. Deep purple in colour, it reveals vibrant notes of black cherries, black raspberries and cassis with hints of chocolate, violets, damp soil, menthol plus a touch of black olives. The palate is full-bodied and firm with a solid core of dense black fruits sparked with loads of earth and floral notes

Delivering a very tightly focused, almost piercing beam of cassis, raspberry coulis and bitter cherry fruit, scored with singed alder and iron notes. Incense and tobacco details chime in on the finish. Long and refined, with the fruit leaving a sweet and mouthwatering echo. Aged for 22 months in 100 new French oak. Appellation: Alexander Valley. ABV: 14.6%. The Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is garnet in color with a ruby red rim, it has an alluring nose of blackberry bramble, baking spices and black olive. Aromas of vanilla, cassis and sage ll the glass, revealing the in uence of American oak barrel aging. On the palate, notes of raspberry are complemented with lingering acidity and a nish of dusty, silky tannins. Classic vintage!

Donald Hess was attracted to Mount Veeder's high elevation and challenging mountain climate, believing this rugged land would produce great grapes, leading to even greater wines. The Hess Collection Mount Veeder wines are known for complexity, structure and surprising elegance. Our estate vineyards on Mount Veeder are sustainably farmed. Star, Stagecoach, Oakville 360, Oakville Ranch and Beckstoffer Georges III are but a handful of the designates. Each is a unique and notable property, but the To Kalon Vineyard reigns supreme. Year in and year out, this is a fan favorite and we are particularly proud of this phenomenal 2014 vintage. It is a dark, savory wine full of power and harmony, with a dense bouquet bursting with dark cherry and plum. Like a chiseled and sinuous boxer sitting in his corner, the youthful and deep Staglin Cabernet is a wine of controlled power, poised while waiting to showcase its long, silky and fine-grained structure. Appellation: St Helena. ABV: 15%. Quella displays an almost ethereal quality of blue fruits, graphite, and a vibrant, subtle finish. Making its debut with the 2006 vintage, the name is derived from the German word for a pristine source or an artesian aquifer. This property is steeply sloped facing southwest. The site is an ancient riverbed composed of cobble and rocks interwoven with pockets of tufa (volcanic ash) that were uplifted during the last volcanic activity in the area. The Wine Advocate - "The 2010 Quella is a candidate for perfection. From the lower foothills of Pritchard Hill, it offers up notes of charcoal, graphite, espresso and copious quantities of blueberry and black raspberry liqueur, along with distinctive minerality, a full-bodied mouthfeel, moderately high tannins, gorgeous richness and a long, moderately tannic finish. Forget it for five years and drink it over the following three decades"

Appellation: Oakville. ABV: 14%. A glorious perfume of sweet charcoal, truffle, black currants and spice box soars from the glass. The gorgeous aromatics are followed by a beautifully complex flavours of spicy black currant fruit, velvety tannins, and not a hard edge to be found. The texture, length and richness are all impressive. This estate has been making great Cabernet-based wines for nearly a decade and this is another one. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec

ABV: 14.5%. Eisele Vineyard Estates, formally Araujo Estate, was sold to the Artemis Group in 2013 who also own Chateau Latour in Bordeaux. The 38 acre Eisele Vineyard is one of the most prized and revered Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards in Napa Valley, located in Calistoga. The vineyard in certified Organic and Biodynamic. The wine is off-the-charts great, with an opaque purple colour to the rim, an aroma of pen ink, graphite, blackberry and blueberry fruit, a hint of liquorice, camphor and incense. The wine is full-bodied, with extraordinary concentration, remarkable equilibrium and noticeable, but sweet, well-integrated tannin. This is a large-scaled Eisele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, but flawless and with no edges. It is an amazing effort and a great achievement from this incredible terroir. 100 Cabernet Sauvignon

Appellation: Rutherford. ABV: 15%. Scarecrow is produced from two acres of old vines planted in 1945. The oldest Cabernet Sauvignon vines in Napa Valley. Tantalizing notions of violets, lavender, Black Forest cake, mulberries, tobacco leaf and fragrant earth with a core of warm dark berry fruit. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated yet possesses great energy with vibrant red and black fruits and mineral accents, framed by very ripe, fine-grained tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing very long with the most incredible perfume. Hedonistically, undeniably and deliciously perfect. 100 Cabernet Sauvignon

Appellation: Rutherford. Scarecrow is produced from two acres of old vines planted in 1945. The oldest Cabernet Sauvignon vines in Napa Valley. Scarecrow shows fully ripe, vibrant aromas of blackberries on the vine, dusty cherries, and a sense of fresh earth. On the palate the wine broadens to express its Rutherford character with bright red and blue fruits as well as darker tones of mocha and vanilla. The tannins show polish and power and are beautifully refined. After a total of approximately 22 months in French oak, the wine was bottled in late July 2020 without fining or filtration. A total of 1800 cases were produced. 100 Cabernet Sauvignon

Appellation: Mendocino County. ABV: 14.5%. Edmeades Mendocino County Zinfandel begins with very pleasant aromas of blueberry and plum along with a little bramble, leather, vanilla and some excellent smoky notes. This is a really, really tasty wine full of wonderful fruit wrapped up in a smooth and silky texture. Nine months in basically 50 French/50 American oak (15 of which was new) was put to tremendous use here. You'll also be pleased to find notes of cola, leather and vanilla; soft, fine tannins; and good acidity in this excellently balanced wine

ABV: 15.2%. The 2018 Pessimist is inky and dark aubergine in color. A powerhouse vintage with a plethora fruit showcasing blueberry, boysenberry, plum and strawberry. Smoky notes of truffle and roasted coffee are accompanied by accents of floral consisting of lavender and lilac, highlighted by underlying nuances of buttered toast, vanilla, and a breath of cool wintergreen. A veritable cascade of juicy berries, red cherries and huckleberries flood the palate while a river of lush fruit flavors overflow its banks. Voluptuous and robust while tempered with grace and elegance; a true gentle giant. The purity of fruit is elevated by its silky texture and hints of kirsch and cassis, olive and fennel. This wine displays a well rounded and balanced finish that offers essences of blueberry and cranberry with prodigious persistence. Blend: 62 Petite Sirah, 20 Zinfandel, 16 Syrah, 2 Lagrein

Medium to full-bodied, it has a good core of spicy fruits with grainy tannins and good freshness, finishing very spicy

Appellation: Russian River Valley. ABV: 14.5%. The 2015 Petite Sirah is truly a treat for the senses. Deep, dark, inky red in color it has rich aromas of blueberry and dark chocolate with subtle earth hints. The lush mouth feel is the perfect starts with brambly berry flavors that slowly give way to blueberry, dark chocolate, blackberry with a delightfully long finish

ABV: 14.9%. The color is a deep, opulent purple and the nose opens to aromas of black forest fruits, exotic spices and vanilla. It has flavors of blackberry pie, warm chocolate, toasted spices and jam. The textures are smooth and silky with a soft roundness met with vibrancy

Appellation: Sonoma County. ABV: 14.7%. Vermillion red blend has a very bright and ultra-lively nose showcasing raspberry coulis, dark fruit, brambled blackberry and black tea. The palate is broad, with fine tannins giving way after some air; while it shows a plush mouthfeel, layers of red and dark fruits, garrigue, coriander and middle eastern spices, all coming together in a mile long finish. ABV: 14.6%. Pazzo (meaning 'crazy' in Italian) marries the best features of several varietals to create a unique and sophisticated blend. Rich dark berry fruit with cherry highlights is heightened by bright acidity and a bold tannin structure. Bursting with concentrated fruit on the nose, a second waft reveals notes of roasted herbs, pepper and spice. Delicious is the word most used to describe Pazzo. The wine is a blend of 58 Sangiovese, 22 Merlot, 12 Syrah, 8 Cabernet Sauvignon

The anomaly in the Shafer portfolio is the Relentless, which is created from the southern foothills of the Vaca mountain range and was debuted largely at the insistence of Elias Fernandez. The first vintage was 1999, and this big, massive, Rhône Valley-inspired wine is certainly a wine capable of lasting 20-25 years. A blend always dominated by Syrah, but with various percentages of Petite Sirah, the 2013 Relentless has a tiny quantity of Petite Sirah (only 3). It is a stunning wine, with notes of roasted meats, beef blood, lavender, new saddle leather, blackberry and pepper, followed by a wine with a huge, massive, plush texture, an opulence and richness that are stunning, and a long, long finish. It can be drunk young for its exuberance and boisterous character or cellared for another 20+ years. RP

Spice notes add the kind of modest glitter that can only be seen from certain angles. And then, through the finish, fine fingers of tannin

ABV: 14%. A classic Shiraz from a wonderful vintage from the iconic Chester Osborn! Dark brooding fruits, dried herbs and spice contribute to the nose of this easy drinking red. The palate is round and delicious with abundant red currant, mulberry and plum. The tannin is firm but not over-bearing, resulting in a wine that is delicious and comforting

ABV: 14%. The Potts blend is 62/18/11/6/3/ cabernet sauvignon, malbec, petit verdot, cabernet franc and merlot, and it spends one year in oak of mixed sizes, 27 percent of which is new. Look for a floral, dark fruit nose with blackcurrant and plums. The attack is soft with brown spices, vanilla and more black fruit with bits of cassis, chocolate espresso and black olive flavours and just a hint of acid breaking through. Best with steaks

Appellation: Entre-Deux-Mers. ABV: 13.5%. Chateau Marjosse is the personal property – and home – of famed French winemaker Pierre Lurton, CEO of Chateau Cheval Blanc and Chateau d'Yquem. Marjosse is situated in Tizac-de-Curton (population about 350), a commune in Entre-deux-Mers. 2016 is one of Bordeaux's greatest vintages. The delicious sweetness of fruit is flushed with ripe tannins. Medium-plus bodied and very balanced. Aromas of spices, currants and milk chocolate with fresh-basil undertones. Full-bodied, layered and rich with lots of fruit and character on the finish. Tannins are velvety and dusty in texture

Appellation: Côtes de Bordeaux. ABV: 13.5%. Deeply coloured, the wine is medium bodied, fresh, forward and refined, with a character showing off its red and black plum, thyme and round textured finish with ease. Made in a modern style

Appellation: Pauillac. ABV: 14%. Firstly, simply labelled as Famille J-M Cazes Pauillac, it isn't immediately apparent that this is the third wine of Château Lynch-Bages. First created in 2009, it's made entirely from fruit grown on the young vines of the prestigious property. Secondly, it doesn't explain what a phenomenal vintage 2015 was. Respected critic and Master of Wine Jeannie Cho Lee went as far as to "compare it to 2005 and 2009 in quality", Decanter Magazine noted that "several châteaux have arguably made the best ever wines", and Steven Spurrier announced that "Bordeaux is back." So wines from top properties such as Lynch-Bages are not to be missed. A wonderful introduction to the property, this displays all the classic Pauillac character, but in a smooth early drinking style. Cassis, plums, cherry liqueur chocolates, star anise, leather and cedar; if this is the third wine, you'll soon be itching to try the first. Pauillac Château Lynch-Bages offers a quality to price ratio that's seriously hard to beat. Don't be fooled by its Cinquième Grand Cru Classé status, as Jancis Robinson notes: "If any château's positioning in the… 1855 classification highlights just quite how outdated it is then Lynch-Bages… would be the one. Rated a 5th growth in 1855, it has been for the last few decades a definite Super Second"

Appellation: Haut Medoc. ABV: 14%. Rich in colour, it already shows a nose with superb complexity with aromas of red and black fruits such as blueberry and blackberry competing for your attention. Fine notes of menthol and liquorice give it an elegant freshness. A gloriously full palate reveals instant harmony: powerful and velvety, it displays the great maturity of its tannins and great subtlety and elegance leading to a very long, full finish. A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot

Appellation: Fronsac. ABV: 14.5%. Fontenil has a deep bluish purple color and superbly well intergrated alcohol in this full-bodied, layered, opulent wine, with lots of black raspberry fruit intermixed with some blueberries and crushed rock. A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon

Appellation: Saint-Julien. ABV: 14.6%. A perfect wine with perfect purity of fruit. It shows gorgeous aromas of blackberries, currants and cedar with hints of chocolate. Full body, with a lovely sweetness of fruit and ripe tannins. It goes to chocolate, hazelnut and spices. Nutmeg too. Sexy and incredible. It has so much depth of fruit and density

Appellation: Moulis en Medoc. ABV: 14.5%. This delivers a stylish impression from the get-go with a really nicely focused dark berry nose and hints of fresh pastry. The palate has a smooth array of bright blackberry and plum fruits with smoothly cut tannins that layer up nice and even

Appellation: Saint Emilion. ABV: 14.5%. This wine is deep and profound in colour, with a beautiful brilliance. The nose reveals very ripe black fruit. In the mouth, power and elegance are intertwined with notes of cassis, black cherry, and blackberry balanced by juniper and clove and surrounded by illusive minerality. The blend brings harmony to a strong structure with good tannins imparted by Cabernet Sauvignon. The spices, complexity and red fruit aromas are the signature of our Cabernet Franc grown in limestone. With notes of black fruit, the Merlot brings a velvety softness over a complex power. A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon

Appellation: Pommerol. ABV: 14.5%. A dense core of black fruit with underlying notes of truffle, wet forest floor and graphite. These aromatics are so engaging and involving, drawing you in towards its charms. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp and taut with great precision and sappiness towards the focused, almost symmetrical, black truffle-laced finish. Appellation: Saint Emilion. ABV: 14.5%. Dense purple to the rim, with a superb bouquet of acacia flowers, blueberries, black currants, and crushed rocks, the wine's oak component is completely obscured by the wealth of fruit and overall rich, concentrated style. The average age of the vines is over 100 years. Sadly, production is limited to a mere 350 cases. A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc

Deep purple color with black reflections The nose literally explodes on notes of great complexity combining morello cherry and macerated prune, oriental spices, sandalwood, incense, leather, cedar, peppermint, violet, blond tobacco with honey. The fruit is so opulent that the richness in the nose is answered by opulence in the mouth, structured by sumptuous tannins allied to sovereign freshness. The wine has imperious presence and is already glistening. Velvety and suave, the length lingers forever. The vintage is wholly contained in this Palmer that epitomizes Palmer at its best: breed, balance and elegance. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot

Appellation: Pauillac. ABV: 13.5%. The 2005 Mouton Rothschild has a sensational nose of crème de cassis and incense as well as a touch of lead pencil shavings and forest floor. Dense purple, this is one of the biggest, richest wines from the Médoc. It is full-bodied, pure, and impressively endowed. Certainly the selection process and the vineyard have come through in admirable form. This wine has a certain accessibility due to the sweetness of the tannin, but it is multidimensional, with a majestic mouthfeel and length. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc

Appellation: Bourgogne AOP. ABV: 13%. This Bourgogne "Pinot Noir" 2017 has great intensity and shows extremely well. On the palate, fresh raspberries, red currants and baking spice are in evidence. Very good and persistent finish. Maison Louis Latour is one of the most highly-respected négociant-éléveurs in Burgundy

Appellation: Beaune AOP. ABV: 14%. The 2015 Beaune Premier Cru Les Boucherottes has a subtle bouquet that comes across more introspective than the 2015 Beaune Clos des Couchereaux, the fruit darker but equally well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, tensile tannin - plenty of tart red cherry fruit, quite saline in the mouth leading to an understated but very focused finish. This is another top-notch Beaune Premier Cru from Louis Jadot

Appellation: Pommard AOP. ABV: 13.5%. Les Pézerolles is characterized by a refined aroma with hints of roses, poppies, wild berries, which are moving gracefully in nuances of prunes and chocolate

Appellation: Corton AOP. ABV: 14%. Intense bouquet with aromas of fruit and spice. Rich and structured on the palate, this wine needs a bit of patience in order to reveal its raciness and great distinction

Appellation: Ventoux AOP. ABV: 14.5%. The Ventoux appellation sits in the southeastern section of the Rhône wine region of France, along the lower slopes of the Ventoux Mountain and at the foot of the Vaucluse Mountains, and is known for red wines showing spicy black fruit. This one doesn't disappoint, brimming as it is with dark berry fruit and spiced plum

Appellation: Côtes du Rhône AOP. ABV: 14.5%. Deep and dark red. Shiny. Aromas of fresh fruits with red berries and spices. Full, round and racy. Rounded and smooth tannins. A full-bodied, rich and intensely aromatic wine

Appellation: Corbières AOP. ABV: 14%. The Prestige rouge offers notes of Christmas spice, violets, blackcurrants and blackberries in its rich, medium to full-bodied, nicely textured personality. A blend of Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah

Appellation: Côtes du Rhône-Villages AOP. ABV: 14%. Michel Chapoutier joined with Pierre-Henri Morel to purchase a vineyard in the Pignan area of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, back in 2007. From it, they make some exciting, intensely terroir-driven grenache wines. This wine also has some syrah in it, and it is an exceedingly charming, fairly intense wine. Blackberry, blackcurrant, licorice, and a bit of lavender

Appellation: Vacqueyras AOP. ABV: 14%. Exotic, highly expressive aromas of blackberry, blueberry compote and floral oils, with complicating notes of Indian spices and fresh herbs. Supple and expansive on the palate, offering sweet black and blue fruit flavors and smoky minerality. The floral note returns on the gently tannic, very persistent finish

Appellation: Crozes-Hermitage. ABV: 13.5%. Incense, blackberries, blueberries and cassis all emerge from this full-bodied, rich and concentrated Crozes that shows how good this vintage is for the Crozes appellation. Amazing with ribeye!

Appellation: Costières de Nîmes. ABV: 15%. Its dark color, almost black, announces a wine of great concentration. Powerful and extremely complex, it displays a wide array of aromas such as dark berries, spices, eucalyptus and vanilla welded in great harmony on the nose. Rich and velvety, without being heavy, this wine pulls its finish in an aerial display of fresh fruits and ripe tannins

Appellation: Chateauneuf du Pape. ABV: 14.5%. Vivid red. High-pitched aromas of fresh red fruits, candied flowers and smoky minerals hint at white pepper and allspice in the background. Juicy, penetrating and very nicely concentrated, offering vibrant raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that slowly put on weight with aeration. Fine-grained, firming tannins sneak in slowly on the gently sweet, very long finish

Appellation: Chateauneuf du Pape. ABV: 14.6%. Dark red, with a purple border. The nose is rich, pure and complex, with black fruits and sweet spices. On the palate, lots of roundness, with nice refined tannins. Finish is very long, with notes of black cherry and black berry, with a silky touch on the tongue. A feeling of youth and freshness emerges. The aromas given by the ageing in oak are still visible, with hints of spices and roasting, but they will be soon integrated into the wine and will make it really complex. A wine with a great cellaring potential and with an impressing aromatic expression

Appellation: Chateauneuf du Pape. ABV: 15%. Offers a chewy feel, but manages to stay velvety and lush overall despite the muscular layers of braised fig, melted licorice snap, blackberry coulis and fig paste. The dense, bittersweet, ganache-filled finish is offset by a racy graphite note that should emerge with cellaring

Appellation: Chateauneuf du Pape. ABV: 14.5%. "Offers a grippy feel, with taut licorice and tar notes stretching from start to finish. Ripe plum, raspberry and blackberry fruit flavors fill in the core, while hints of anise and juniper hang in the background. The finish reveals a bolt of graphite. Should age very nicely. Best from 2015 through 2030

Appellation: Chateauneuf-du-Pape. ABV: 14.8%. Beautiful on the nose, with notions of ground pepper, wild herbs, minerality and smoked plum and dark fruit, it's medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated and has plenty of tannin that comes through on the finish

Appellation: Cote Rotie. ABV: 14%. The potentially perfect 2014 Cote Rotie La Turque takes all of this vineyard's exotic floral and herbal notes, red raspberry fruit, spice shadings and meaty complexity and compresses them into an incredibly dense, powerful and intense package. Full-bodied, rich and velvety yet ethereal at the same time, this incredibly long wine should prove to be a legend. Knowing the extensive tasting that was in store for me at this address, I scheduled an entire morning to go through the firm's offerings. The company's wines undergo unusually long élevages, which means there are always multiple vintages of each wine to taste. It does provide an ideal snapshot of the various appellations/vintages. For my visit, Philippe Guigal and the winemaking team prepared prospective samples of the wines that were not yet bottled. The big news here is the acquisition of Domaine de Nalys in Châteauneuf du Pape, which immediately becomes a property to watch

Appellation: Toscana IGT. ABV: 13.5%. Brilliant ruby-red with purple hues, this wine has intense aromas of red cherries, violets and currants, followed by a hint of spice. Well-structured and balanced on the palate, Rubio is easy-going and versatile, but also notable for its intensity and elegance

Appellation: Montecucco DOC. ABV: 13.5%. A charming sangiovese that punches well over it's weight. Cherry, currant, tea and spice on the nose and palate. Amazing finish. An outstanding wine from an outstanding vintage from a place more people should be looking for wine from more often!

Appellation: Toscana IGT. ABV: 14%. An excellent example of what well made wine in a traditional manor can achieve in great vintages. Fermented in concrete with only indigenous yeast and leave to mature for 12-14 months in old barrels and another 10 months partly concrete. The result is a red wine with rich and complex bouquet where ripe red fruit alternate with coffee and black pepper, with a sip of great progression and a warm and persuasive final. Biodynamic, Organic Wine, made with old style artisanal methods. A blend of Sangiovese, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot

Appellation: Toscana IGT. ABV: 13.5%. Intense ruby red in color, the wine has a fruity, spicy bouquet and ripe cherry and berries on the palate. It has the vivid acidity typical of Sangiovese, with well-integrated tannins and an earthy finish

Appellation: Rosso di Montalcino DOC. ABV: 14%. Three separate, densely planted and complementary vineyards comprise the La Fiorita estate. Each has its own personality distinguished by different soils, exposures, altitudes and microclimates. This offers the option to produce single vineyard or blended Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino wines depending on the vagaries of the weather to ensure the best possible outcome for each vintage

Appellation: Bolgheri DOC. ABV: 14%. The 2016 Bolgheri Rosso is mostly Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Syrah. The Merlot is harvested on the early side in order to preserve acidity, meanwhile the other varieties are harvested a bit later to add softness and roundness. In order to highlight the crispness of the fruit, one-fourth of the mass is aged in cement and the rest goes into various types of neutral barrel. This terrific wine boasts firm lines and a soft, cherry-driven core

Appellation: Toscana IGT. ABV: 13.5%. A mouth-filling, velvety wine that is rich in aromas of blackberry, plum and licorice, Roccato has a good mineral component and a tannic structure that is capable of supporting long-term aging

Appellation: Toscana IGT. ABV: 14%. Angello Gaja, the famous Barbaresco producer and farther of modern Italian winemaking, established Ca'Marcanda in 1996 on the coast of Tuscany, with the intention of producing Super Tuscan wines. This is an inviting, colorful red with tea-tree oil, blueberries, violets and lavender. Hints of fresh herbs. Taut, fluid and zesty, it is finely sliced into grippy portions of tannins that sandwich elegant flavors of dark fruit interlaced with carefully tuned acidity. A blend of Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese

Appellation: Toscana IGT. ABV: 14%. Caiarossa is a tremendous wine. The bouquet is rich and compelling with deep layers of dark fruit, spice and chocolate. Given the complexity of the blend, it's hard to identify any single variety although the softness of Merlot and the structure of the two Cabernet grapes definitely comes through in the mouth. A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Sangiovese and Petit Verdot

Appellation: Maremma DOC. ABV: 14%. Nectar Dei, our super-premium wine, was christened after the ancient name of the Nittardi estate discovered in a document from 1183. As is the tradition of Nittardi, the first bottles of this new wine were presented to Pope Benedict XVI just as Michelangelo Buonarroti did in the 16th century when he, the owner of the estate at the time, paid tribute to the popes Julius II and Leo X by presenting them with, to use Michelangelo's own words, the genuine wine of Nittardi. Deep red with hints of purple colour. On the nose ripe notes of red berries and dark fruit, vanilla and tobacco. Very concentrated with lush, rounded tannins and elegant notes as black cherries and licorice. Long and persistent finish where the complexity of the wine shines through. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot

Appellation: Carmignano DOC. ABV: 14%. Carmignano Villa di Capezzana (80/20 Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon) shows thick lines and rich concentration. The wine opens to aromas of cherry liqueur, dried raspberry and blackberry marmalade. The aromas peel back in ripe and chewy layers. Balanced spice and tobacco add extra dimension and layering at the back. The finish is soft and succulent

Appellation: Toscana IGT. ABV: 13%. Ruby red color with rich and intense tones. Variety of aromatic herbs accentuated with generous notes of tobacco and wet earth (dry earth, as well), black currant and licorice. The palate manifests good consistency of medium-smooth tannins to ensure the lengthy ageing. Rich structure and weight and elegant breed on the finish. Optimum cellar life in all vintages. JS95: James Suckling - "Aromas of dark chocolate, berries, toasted nuts and vanilla bean follow through to a full body, firm tannins and a juicy finish. Lots of intense, beautiful fruit. Tight, layered red. All there. Better in 2017". WS94: Wine Spectator - "A firm, linear red, featuring black cherry, black currant, leather, tobacco and tar notes on a dense frame. This persistent version builds to a long fruit-, spice- and mineral-tinged aftertaste. Combines power and finesse, and should age beautifully. Sangiovese. Best from 2017 through 2027"

Appellation: Bolgheri DOC. ABV: 14.5%. The 2016 Bolgheri Rosso Magari is a dark, rich and exuberant wine that so faithfully reflects that unique Gaja signature. There's nothing not to love here. The wine drinks beautifully and smoothly, caressing all the senses with sensual silkiness. The 2016 vintage delivers plump and extra supple fruit that further underlines the house style at Ca' Marcanda. Dark berries and spice intermingle with seamless intensity. The wine offers firm grip and long-lasting power on the finish

Appellation: Bolgheri DOC. ABV: 14%. A wine of ample aromatic impact with notes of mint, mocha, plums, and spice which follow and fuse with one another in a movement of constant energy and development. On the palate, the tannic texture is exceptionally full and silky. A wine of true profundity, length and elegance. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot

Appellation: Toscana IGT. ABV: 13.5%. This wine is made from very stressed fruit. Of course, in wine speak, this is a very good thing, resulting in a wine that shows bigger density, opulence and overall concentration. This Cabernet Franc opens to a blackish color and thick aromas that raise heavily and slowly from the glass. The vines are 25-years-old. Blackberry and dried cherry segues to sassy spice and tobacco

Appellation: Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT. ABV: 13.5%. The 2013 Flaccianello della Pieve is a commanding wine and a strong protagonist of both the vintage and its territory. Connoisseurs of Sangiovese will be hard pressed to find a wine more authentic, elegant, complex and pristine than this. The bouquet is gorgeous and delineated with wild berry, tangy spice, crushed mineral and forest flower. Yet, the wine's color is dark, brooding and austere. The wine offers exuberance and energy in the mouth, thanks to its balanced acidity and seemingly never-ending finish

Appellation: Toscana IGT. ABV: 13.5%. Another stunning wine, the 2015 Tenuta di Trinoro wraps around the palate with stunning depth and power. Today, the flavors are incredibly primary, but it is the wine's textural depth and nuance that impress. The 2015 boasts tremendous concentration, but there are no hard edges, just pure fruit and voluptuousness to burn

Appellation: Bolgheri DOC. ABV: 14.5%. 2016 is one of the best vintages ever in Bolgheri, classic in style and balanced. It has a 'great sense of the classics without denying the past, a fully-fledged, more modern wine,' according to Axel Heinz. Crimson and dense in colour, it's full of restrained, brambly fresh fruit, clove, nutmeg and a salty butteriness, combined with velvety, masked tannins on the palate. It is at perfect phenolic ripeness, supported by refreshing natural acidity balancing the 14.5 alcohol. This will last for decades

Appellation: Toscana IGT. ABV: 14%. Ruby red in color, 2017 Tignanello offers aromas of ripe red fruits which complement delicate aromas of cloves and licorice; sweet notes of mint and chocolate complete its complex bouquet. The palate is rich and vibrant with velvety tannins. Its lengthy finish and aftertaste bring back aromatic notes perceived on the nose. A blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc

Appellation: Toscana IGT. ABV: 13.5%. Once again, the 2015 Tignanello is stunning. Sweet, floral notes give the 2015 striking aromatic intensity to play off a core of red Sangiovese fruit. In 2015, the Sangiovese is a bit higher than the norm, which comes through in the wine's flavor profile. The tannins are also a bit biting at this stage, but that won't be an issue in time. Bright red cherry, plum, blood orange mint and sweet floral notes build into a finish laced with energy and tension. The 2015 is utterly captivating. A blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc

Appellation: Chianti Rufina DOCG. ABV: 13%. Nipozzano 2016 is a brilliant, clear scarlet red. The nose is complex and intense with prevalent red fruit scents of bitter cherry, plum, and raspberry followed by spiced and toasted notes of pepper, nutmeg and coffee. In the mouth the wine is warm, soft and significantly fresh. Nipozzano 2016 is elegant and enveloping, with fine tannins that are well balanced in the wine's structure and a long and persistent fruity finish

Appellation: Chianti Classico DOCG. ABV: 14%. Tenuta di Arceno is spread across 1000-hectares of classic rolling hillside containing vineyards, forests and medieval stone castles. The vineyards have been replanted and expanded into a series of micro-crus relating to the property's 12 distinct meso-climates over the last 20 years vastly improving the fruit that gets to the winery. The aromatics are front and center along with the red fruit and garrigue notes. The texture is supple with more liquorice and savoury, dried herb nuances. A wonderful and persistent finish linger on the palate fro this classically made Chianti

On the palate, the wine is fairly rich due to the presence of Merlot in the blend, but smooth with an almost creamy mouthfeel. Appellation: Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. ABV: 15.4%. In 2012, Gaja blended all three of their top vineyards together to create a single punchy super Brunello cuvee. In 2014 they did the same again due to difficult weather conditions but with one massive difference being that this time, 80 to 90 of the final cuvee's fruit came from just the two Cru vineyards of Rennina and Sugarille. Bright translucent colour, the 2014 Brunello mimics the delicious 2012 release. The result is a wonderfully fragrant, expressive aromatic nose showing tar, red cherry, Seville oranges, earthy aniseed root, violets, cherry blossom, tannery leather and sweet cedar oak vanilla spice complexity. Deliciously plump and full fruited, this wine is plush and opulent, fleshy, dense and super vibrant with an extra level of stony minerality. What a fabulous success for the vintage

Appellation: Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG. ABV: 14%. La Fiorita's 2013 Brunello di Montalcino shows smooth balance and mild intensity, with good fruit definition along the way. This wine exhibits the firmness and focus of Sangiovese in this classic vintage. The oak notes are also in plain view. They impart extra layers of spice and tobacco. The winery is run by the fourth generation of the Damilano family which, since taking over in 1997, has attentively managed the family's land while giving the winery a younger and more modern approach with the valuable help of agronomist Giampiero Romana and enologist Beppe Caviola. With lots owned on different vineyard sites, including Cannubi and Liste, the winery is able to produce top-notch Barolo's that reflect the diverse terroir of the region. Appellation: Barolo DOCG. ABV: 14%. The 2006 Barolo offers up a super-classic profile of tar, roses, raspberries and licorice, all wrapped around a firm core of tannins. Fresh and vibrant throughout, the Barolo impresses for its superb balance and poise. Deceptively medium in body, the wine sneaks up on the mid-palate, gaining more and more volume through to the finish. There is the subtlest hint of French oak that points to the slightly updated style the estate is going for with this bottling, but not enough to detract from the classic feel. This is a magnificent, impeccable Barolo from Pio Cesare, but it will be even better in a few years. The estate's Barolo is made from a number of vineyards in Serralunga, Grinzane Cavour, La Morra, Novello and other villages

Appellation: Veneto IGT. ABV: 15%. "The 2009 La Poja is one of the most delicious monovarietal expression of Corvina you will ever taste. This tricky indigenous grape has been vinified as if it were a Merlot or a Cabernet Sauvignon (with 20 months in new French oak, followed by eight months in large casks). The wine is released four years after harvest. Granted, this international approach will not appeal to everyone, but there's no doubting these excellent results. Corvina's naturally high acidity shines through: The Allegrini family uses the fitting word crunchy to describe the mouthfeel. There is a sudden snap for sure, but I'd add words like supple and velvety to complete the picture

Appellation: Isola dei Nuraghi IGT. ABV: 14%. On the palate it is smooth and pleasantly tangy and spicy, with sweet, firm, yet soluble pulp. The aromas are full and strongly fruity: blackcurrants, ripe cherries, and brambles mingle pleasantly, and give way in the finish to a sweet almondy flavour, like morello cherry flesh. Assajé has old-fashioned elegance, and the Carignano grape variety displays all its typical features in the best possible expression. The voice of the terroir emerges loud and clear, with the typical fragrance and aromas of Mediterranean scrubland, while the sweet velvety substance of the wine covers a characteristically strong body

Appellation: Irpinia DOC. ABV: 14%. Round and rich, the 2012 Irpinia Aglianico Terra d'Eclano delivers amazing intensity and a rich, supple texture. The generous bouquet peels back to reveal spice, dark fruit, cola, leather and tobacco. The style is richly extracted, dense and very beautifully balanced. Quintodecimo shows a deft hand with the unruly Aglianico grape. The tannins are firm, but supple and textured. The Quintodecimo estate is located in a mountainous interior known as Irpinia. It is a beautiful area where climate, soil and vines coexist in an extraordinary balance that has fortified over the centuries to the point of creating ideal natural conditions for the production of high quality wines

The grapes were hand picked at approximately 24 brix. The wine was barrel aged in French oak. Caboose is made in a Solera style which is a system of wine aging developed by the Spanish and Portuguese as a way to provide wines of a constant average age, as well as to ensure a certain homogeneity of product over different vintages. In this system a portion of the aging wine is bottled and then replaced with the wine from the current vintage

Appellation: Douro. A magnificent tawny colour with orange tones. The bottom of the glass is bright, with traces of tawny-red that develop into a greenish halo characteristic of old cask-aged wines. It has an admirably elegant aroma. At first, it is warm and charming. Aromas of vanilla and dry fruit and nuts immediately appear as the result of its ageing process. Upon agitation of the glass, spicy aromas such as cinnamon and cocoa become prominent. Satiny and long-lasting in the mouth. A taste of nuts such as almond and hazelnut is followed by a surprising and pleasant freshness produced by ethereal flavours, culminating with a taste of liquorice
