All our sparkling wines are lovely for this purpose, but if you want the wine to accompany further dishes choose a sparkling Rosé, which has the fruit to support stronger flavours. If you want to try something more unusual – start a meal with a sherry, you'll be amazed
A great match is our Viña Esmerelda, which could carry on well with Chicken Tikka or other dry-ish main dishes. A similar, but more elegant, solution is our brilliant Riesling which would also complement Goan dishes
Many of our Rosés or lighter reds will do this perfectly. Our researches found an unexpected and brilliant match in the Orvieto Amabile, a touch of sweetness offsets heat and brings out the sweetness in lamb especially well
Any of the wines mentioned above and Gewurztraminer would fit this bill, but our Provence Rosé, is a wonderfully versatile wine. All these wines can carry on with many main courses too. If you are having a bigger red with your main course you might want to try a lighter red with starters. Our Terra Andina Reserva Pinot Noir is a great choice
The cherry and plum flavours in Brancott "Terraces" Pinot Noir or Errázuriz Merlot work well with these dishes, as do more complex whites like the Riesling or Pinot Gris
We spent some time searching for a creamy Chardonnay precisely to match with our creamy dishes, and the Lapostolle example we've chosen works wonderfully well. We must mention our lovely Pinot Gris here too, it goes very well with all the starters but fits our Tikka Masala like a hand in a, very elegant, glove!
Our Fair-Trade Shiraz is chosen specifically to go with slow-cooked lamb dishes and fares well with rich sauces too. Drier lamb dishes go very well with Rioja also
A great choice here, especially good with Jalfrezie and the richer vegetable curries, is Malbec. "Cantos de Valpiedra" Rioja also does very well with these dishes and slow-cooked lamb. If you want a white, go with something with depth of flavour and even some sweetness: Gewurztraminer or even Orvieto
If choosing a wine to accompany a wide variety of dishes look for refreshment and depth. The "default" wine has often been considered Gewurztraminer and our example fits the bill, a lighter zingy white like Esmerelda also works. A red solution would be a Pinot Noir (we have three excellent examples) or Rioja (we also have three). However through several tastings we have been delighted by the performance of our Provence Rosé, perhaps the most versatile wine of all - surprisingly deep, serious and refreshing
A salmon pink Cava with fine creamy bubbles, fragrances of raspberry, blackberry and strawberry and a citric typical Cava note. The fizz and fresh flavours lift the wine, enabling it to set off a wide range of flavours at the beginning of, or even all through, a meal
A dry, fruity Prosecco, with typical sherbet fizzy notes. This makes a lovely accompaniment to poppadum and chutneys or the MemSaab Salad
This classic very dry aperitif has the strength of flavour to match salty and strong flavoured appetisers. Beautiful with our Namkeen nuts, also try it with Jhinga Hara Masala, you'll be amazed
A Champagne of considerable charm. Perrier-Jouët is light, but displays a rich soft-apple fruit and an easy-drinking, well balanced style that make it extremely popular, it accompanies our pre-starters so well
A very elegant Champagne, with subtle and persistent brioche flavours, a wonderful start to the meal, on its own or with any of the Sabzi selection
A top class rosé that still punches well above its weight. It is very much in the Bollinger style with plenty of depth and complexity. Fine, fruity and fullflavoured, a brilliant wine with our food
An iconic Champagne, made only in great years. The last word in finesse, complexity and luxury
Meadow flowers, with citrus, pears and pleasant hints of pineapple. This medium-bodied wine has the freshness to balance many dishes on our menu
Floral and lemongrass aromas with balanced, creamy fruit on the palate. A great value accompaniment to the starters
A lovely New World Riesling, with a pungent nose, lovely balance of aromatics, acidity and sweet fruit. Perfect with Goan fish or vegetable dishes and wonderful with all our starters and drier curries
Notes of gooseberry and passion fruit on the nose. It is fresh and beautifully crisp on the palate while being vibrantly fruity, ending in a long zingy finish. Has depth to go with many dishes – try it with our Salmon Tikka, or any fish dish
Showing all the characteristics of the appellation, this has lemony freshness and vivacity, underpinned by light minerality. Try it with Sigri Jhingha
South Africa's most popular grape variety. Light, fresh and well balanced but quite full, creamy and round, with a peachy fruit flavour. A great all rounder
A wonderfully grapey fresh wine, with notes of honeysuckle, ripe pear and sweet spice. The freshness and depth of aroma make the wine brilliant with all the starters and Chicken Tikka
Sancerre is one of the Loire Valley's, and hence the world's, top Sauvignon Blanc wines. This 'cuvee' undergoes a lengthier skin contact than is usual which results in greater depth and weight in flavour. This wine has beautiful floral and grapefruit aromas and is ably supported by a lovely long finish, a classy frame for our cuisine
An easy-going wine with light flowery-fruity aromas. The off-dry strawberry flavours are delightful even with strong flavoured food
This delicious rosé delivers an off-dry style wine which is full of ripe raspberry fruit, red cherry and a hint of spice on the finish. This works well with Sigri dishes
A genuine Indian wine that has depth of fruit, suppleness and a hint of sweetness that, unsurprisingly, go with a wide range of Indian food
A beautiful rosé, summer fruits and Mediterranean herbs particularly complement vegetarian starters and fish dishes such as Amritsari Machli, but the wine has enough flavour to accompany dishes throughout the meal
This traditional, off-dry style of Orvieto has fresh, ripe, peach and apricot flavours and a hint of almonds. The softer style helps to counter-point and open up complex spice flavours. Works with all the starters, especially – and perhaps surprisingly – with Lahori Lamb or Sigri
A classic with spicy food, this shows typical rose, lychee and ginger notes with enough gentle spice and sweet fruit to complement any spicy dish, especially good with Tikka, Tandoori and all vegetable dishes with ginger
A really lovely wine! Quite a subtle nose of aromatic and floral elements that go well with starters, but the wine has depth to perfectly match Tikka Masala, a combination that makes both the wine and the food sing – a delightful experience!
A vanilla-oaky nose, with a very creamy texture balanced by a citric acidity and some warmth. Really comes into its own with any creamy dish, and perfect with a Korma
This cool-climate Viognier has aromas of watermelon and peach with a delicate hint of spice. Richness on the palate, common to Viognier, with hints of Oriental spice make the wine go well with daal, Goan and other creamy dishes
With peach, pear, hints of citrus and a slight honeyed edge held together by steely minerality and acidity, this complex wine is a delight with so many dishes. It has the weight to cope with anything, but sets off chicken dishes exceptionally
A dry yet rich white Burgundy from this most prestigious of the Mâconnais vineyards. It is a Chardonnay that combines honeyed peachy richness with a citrus freshness, a match to Tandoor dishes
White Burgundy from the most iconic village and a good producer. Loads of fresh peach and floral aromas with touches of citrus and a hint of toasted almonds. Buttery and rich enough to match up with any creamy sauce
A Chenin Blanc based wine with 10% Viognier that is made sweet by noble rot. It has lovely marmalade and apricot notes and fabulous underlying acidity that allows it to go with even the stickiest dessert
A lovely, grapey fresh-tasting wine made from sun-dried grapes producing significant sweetness. Fruitier desserts or even ice-cream work with it. If you like the Viña Esmerelda with the main course you'll love this!
A great digestif. Strong dry fruit flavours cope well with any sweet dish, and round off a meal beautifully
Good upfront briary fruit flavours balanced with soft integrated tannins and almost vanilla-like finish. An easy-going accompaniment to starters and simpler dishes
A plum fruit, soft supple Merlot from a good site in Chile. The soft rounded tannins and sweet berry fruit go well with chops, kebabs, drier mains, Balti and Tandoori dishes
Juicy, red and dark fruit-packed wine with a smooth, slightly smoky finish
Earthy black cherry and raspberry flavours and aromas, mingled with a soft touch of vanilla and coconut. Medium-full bodied and rich, with a soft and velvety texture. A delight with starters or drier dishes like Chicken Tikka, and even fish curries
This classy Pinot has ripe cherry and violet with spicy highlights and rich plum notes. The palate is sweet ripe cherry and plum fruit with spicy complexity and a smooth, chocolate finish. A lovely rich Pinot for all the drier dishes
A medium-bodied wine with big, mouth-filling tannins, balanced by sweet oak. Spicy notes linger on the palate, with hints of dark chocolate and coffee. Try it with Keema Matar
A sumptuous Pinot Noir from a very famous Village and a good producer. A deep colour with a berry and red fruit bouquet, a full tannic structure and a lasting finish. This powerful and perfumed wine requires elaborate, full flavoured foods
40 year-old vines give a tremendous depth of flavour and fruit. Intense and bold, wild herbs and plums
MemSaab's most popular red, and it's easy to see why. Bright cherry and raspberry flavours with creamy oak notes. A classic with drier lamb dishes
A lovely black fruit, sweetly oak-edged Rioja. This has the unusual merit of accompanying all the hot-sauced curries. Par excellence with slow cooked lamb or Garlic Chilli Lamb!
This well-loved Rioja is a velvety and harmonious wine with intense aromas and flavours combining effortlessly with acidity and tannins leading to richness and spice on the finish. Its velvety soft fruit makes a brilliant allrounder!
Deep red with ripe berry fruit and wispy green pepper. Medium-bodied ripe tannins and lingering fruit on the finish. A lovely frame for Nalli Gosht
A classy and well integrated Malbec of great depth and length. The nose has some oak notes but also bright plum and berry fruit aromas. The palate has sweet berry, even cherry, flavours offset by mild herb, spice and oak notes. Soft tannins define the finish; making a lovely frame for the supple fruit to match "difficult" curries like Jalfrezie
The spicy, blackberry flavours of Shiraz are a natural to accompany Indian food, but so many examples have a hard, salty edge that clashes badly. We had to search long for this supple Fair-trade example, which goes wonderfully with slow-cooked lamb dishes, especially Rogan Josh
A robust red berry rich red, in the Chateauneuf style, laden with warm spices
A very modern style of Pinotage, with a deep, fruity nose and rich berry flavours with hints of prunes and without those harsh tannins which are often found in other versions. This helps it complement the hottest Jalfrezie curry or Chicken Karahai
Intense garnet red, with a typical violet and rose scented aroma. Aged for 3 years in large oak barrel it has smooth tannins and concentrated developed savoury fruit flavours. A strong wine to complement strong flavours
Made from dried grapes, to concentrate their flavours and bring added complexity to the wine. This produces a full-bodied, long wine with a rich texture and flavours of black cherries, prunes and cedar spice. Enough oomph to cope with anything
