Established in 1899, Sapporo Station Tachiuri Shokai is a specialty shop that offers delicious ekiben (station bento) within the station. The bento boxes, including the colorful four-color rice topped with a variety of seafood, create a luxurious moment during your travels. The shop inside the station opens early in the morning, making it easy to stop by before your journey begins. The four-color rice dish features crab, sea urchin, scallops, and salmon roe, creating a delightful presentation. The rice, infused with the umami of seafood, is fluffy and remains delicious until the very end, even on the train. As a long-established shop that has been around since the Meiji era, there is a special feeling when you open the package. I feel a wide appeal in the fact that Benzaitei also handles station bento and standing soba under its sign. The inazou mochi I bought as a snack was also satisfying, with the elegant smooth red bean paste perfectly complementing the soft mochi.
