When you order at the department store basement, they pack it right there, so the fluffy aroma continues throughout the journey home. The simmered dishes have a gentle flavor, yet the broth seeps in deeply, providing a comforting deliciousness with every bite. The variety of side dishes, such as grilled fish marinated in sweet miso and fried taro, is diverse and never gets boring. The rice with shirasu (tiny sardines) and sansho pepper or bamboo shoots is richly aromatic, making it hard to put down the chopsticks. The contents change with the seasons, so there are new discoveries every time you open the box, which is enjoyable. The carefully made bento is of such quality that it would surely be appreciated as a gift.
