Past pic Irori no Yado Ashina @Higashiyama Onsen This year's (2019) New Year's Day was a relaxing 2-night stay at Higashiyama Onsen in Aizu Wakamatsu. I'm late for New Year's Day 2020 and can't get a reservation, so I'll be back at the end of 2019 for a one-night stay. ←I'm in the car right now. The inn is famous for its local cuisine of Aizu, such as crystal roast and duck dishes around an iroori fireplace. And the proprietress and the young proprietress are very beautiful 😊. The rooms are retro but clean and very cozy, with a dusty Showa atmosphere, and I loved it 😌✨. Pic1...Dinner on New Year's Eve Jidori chicken grilled on a crystal grill Irori grill (rockfish, tofu dengaku, chicken ball) rice gruel Horse-meat sashimi Wild vegetables and mushrooms Nuta (rock mushroom) Dacha bean and herring roe Home-grown radish salad handmade soba noodles apple apple pic2...Breakfast on New Year's Day grilled salmon chestnut kinton, black soybeans, salmon roe, etc... ... Year-end to Higashiyama Onsen (1) One night at Ashina ✨ This time we had a gibier course 🐻🐗🦆🐦. We had a very satisfying dinner again with many local dishes from Aizu in front of the sunken hearth 🌟. pic1: 5 kinds of wild game for the main course! bear, wild boar, duck, pheasant, and chickadee (photo for one). We were surprised at how delicious the bear and wild boar were✨✨✨. The wild boar was like a Japanese brand pork, and the bear was like a rump of beef (in my opinion), with no smell at all, and I enjoyed the delicious meat with only salt. The other birds in the series were also only served with salt. The chickadee was eaten bone by bone 😊. It was my first time to try such an authentic gibier dish and I was very impressed 🥺✨. It was a nice end to the year ❣️ pic4 Home-grown daikon radish salad pic5 Bear stewed in soy sauce pic6: Namasu (trout) pic7 Kozuyu (soy sauce) pic8 Aizu apple and persimmon
