An established izakaya in Kyoto founded in 1934, it has been loved by local people for many years. The interior retains a Showa-era atmosphere, allowing you to enjoy meals in a calm setting. They pride themselves on exceptionally fresh sashimi and regional dishes that highlight seasonal ingredients; the soft-shelled turtle hot pot (suppon nabe) and monkfish liver (ankimo) are especially exquisite. As it is a long-established famous restaurant, I was nervous before entering, but once I went in, it was a very nice atmosphere and a place where I could enjoy my meal. I think the staff were polite and efficient in their service. There are also menu options that can accommodate half sizes, so it is a reassuring place even for solo diners.

Anyway, the side dishes are delicious! Moreover, they listen to the customers' whims. There was a dish of gurnard sashimi on the menu, so I asked if they could make gurnard tempura, and they created a wonderfully delicious plate. I was very satisfied. The marinated fish was also perfect in taste, size, and color. The grilled pufferfish roe was the best, and the sashimi platter was needless to say. There was also soft-shelled turtle on the menu, so I will definitely try that next time. I hope that since it's an izakaya, it won't be too crowded so I can drop by without making a reservation, but well, that might be impossible...

When I visited the restaurant, a woman who might be the owner greeted me with the words "00-san, we have been waiting for you. I was very impressed to be greeted by a woman who said, "00-san, we have been waiting for you" (in Kyoto dialect). I was very impressed. She stopped coming soon after, so I thought she was someone who did not stand in the restaurant. The hospitality, the sake, and the food were all wonderful. All the customers around us were smiling as they drank and ate.

The atmosphere, the service of everyone in the restaurant, and the high level of snacks are all good. I was surprised at the final bill. I thought it would be at least 10,000 yen per person, but it was 7,000 yen. We were very satisfied with our meal, which included a guji, a throat blackfish over 40 centimeters long, three kinds of sea urchin, and a variety of other dishes, as well as a large amount of sake.

I enjoyed the seasonal ingredients deliciously. Everything I ate was delicious, and the staff were very kind. The menu is extensive, and it's hard to decide what to choose, but the portions are not too large, so I recommend trying a variety of dishes like sashimi, grilled items, and fried foods. I would like to visit again when I go to Kyoto.

The atmosphere of the shop is amazing! Everything I ate was delicious. This was my first time trying this type of food, but I couldn't stop drinking sake. Kyoto is a city with many foreign tourists, so even though all the shops are expensive, it was the best at a reasonable price. I will definitely visit again.
