As soon as you get off at the Hakushima tram stop, the glass-fronted exterior that resembles a café catches your eye. Upon entering, you find a calm space surrounded by wooden furnishings, with the counter and tables at a comfortable distance from each other. The first dish that arrived was a simmered dish of pork, burdock, and Chinese cabbage, which had a gentle broth that made me feel at ease with just one bite. The appetizer platter featured creative items like peanut tofu and white miso with mandarin oranges, making it hard to put down my chopsticks. The steamed sea bream with turnip, fried taro, and lotus root stuffed and fried were all full of seasonal flavors, each prepared with care. By the time I enjoyed the white miso soup, both my heart and stomach were satisfied, allowing me to spend a leisurely time.
