While strolling through Nishi-Kujo, I passed under a noren that caught my eye. As I stood at the counter, the owner greeted me kindly, and I was able to relax immediately. The first dish I received, a tempura assortment, had a light batter, allowing the flavors of the ingredients to shine through. The ponzu sauce with grated daikon radish paired with the sand gizzard had a pleasant balance of crunchiness and refreshing acidity. Conversations naturally flowed with the other customers around me, and before I knew it, I was enjoying myself and lost track of time. This is a place filled with warmth and liveliness that I remember every time I come to Nishi-Kujo.
