Shijo Horumon in Kitami City is a Hokkaido yakiniku restaurant that offers special sauce and fresh hormone. Meat is purchased from slaughterhouses without being frozen and cured for one week to 10 days to bring out the best flavor. The secret sauce is made from local ingredients, and the meat is slowly grilled over charcoal to give it a savory flavor. A restaurant where you can make online reservations even for one person. I researched where to eat 'Kitami Yakiniku' using Google Maps and YouTube. If you have acquaintances in Kitami City, they would surely tell you easily. A delicious and inexpensive restaurant frequented by locals rather than tourists.
The first floor has a Seven-Eleven. You can go to the second floor via the side stairs or elevator. The seat I was shown was at the corner of the counter, separated from the lovey-dovey couples on both sides by a partition, making it perfect for solo yakiniku. There is another reason I chose this place. You can order half-size portions for one person. It's ideal for those who want to try a variety of dishes. Since I had already drunk a lot of beer, I started with a mega-sized highball with bean sprout namul. The meat includes pork hormone, pork sagari (harami), beef sagari, and pork kobukuro. Each piece is grilled on a shichirin. And when it comes to Kitami Yakiniku, you can't forget the raw sauce (not heated). Each restaurant has its own unique flavor to enjoy. It's delicious. Next, I tried the salt, pepper, and garlic powder provided on the table. Yes, this is also irresistible. What should I drink next? Huh? What is this? I wondered about the Kitami highball. They say it's a highball with peppermint, a specialty of Kitami. I decided to order this in a mega size as well. Huh? Wow! It really tastes like peppermint! It only tastes like peppermint! It's refreshing and delicious, but I wonder if it really needs to be whiskey. Maybe a sour drink with a peppermint flavor would work too.
Then I added more meat. When you come to Hokkaido, you must eat lamb. I ordered raw lamb shoulder roast jingisukan, lamb tongue, and toritoro. The lamb had no odor at all. And toritoro has a texture and flavor close to sukimi (also known as seseri or neck). It was not greasy and could be enjoyed lightly. It was a leisurely two-hour solo banquet.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is great, and the ventilation is strong. The quality of the meat is wonderful, and it's not too expensive, so you can fully enjoy Kitami Yakiniku. The staff working at the restaurant are cheerful, kind, and provide excellent service! The layout is also easy for solo diners to enter! Nothing to complain about!
This is my first visit to the restaurant. Usually, I choose restaurants focusing on seafood, but I heard that Kitami has delicious meat, so I searched for a restaurant specializing in my favorite hormone (offal). There were cuts of meat I had never seen before, and I was impressed. It was very delicious. However, since there were two of us, we sat at the counter, and perhaps because I am not used to eating side by side, I felt somewhat uneasy. I would have preferred a table seat. The meat was fresh and tasty, and the staff were pleasant.
Since I was alone, I was guided to the counter and enjoyed solo yakiniku. It was nice that there were partitions at the counter, so I could eat without worrying about my surroundings. The menu was diverse and plentiful, and I especially enjoyed the beef skirt, pork offal, round offal, and bamboo shoots.
The customer service and food service were both speedy. The rare cuts such as shintama, lamb tongue, shoulder loin, and hormone were all very delicious and juicy. I am very satisfied. Advance reservation is required, but you can enter smoothly.
We made a reservation for GW! The restaurant was packed with people when we arrived, but the seats were spacious enough for us to sit comfortably even with a small child in tow!
The waitstaff was very cheerful and smiling in spite of the busy schedule ✨.
The waiter who gave my son a candy bar at the end of the meal was very kind and asked my son "Which one do you like? I was also very happy that he asked my son which candy he liked!
I enjoyed a variety of hormone parts until I was full. Everything was delicious. In particular, I had lamb meat and lamb tongue for the first time, which became a memorable gourmet experience.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice and relaxing with tatami seating. The menu was easy to understand with a touch panel, making it easy to order even for first-timers. The upper tongue and jingisukan were very delicious. Also, the raw sauce from Shijo Hormone went well with all the meats and was tasty. For drinks, the Yubari melon soda is recommended.
It is always crowded, so this time I made a reservation online. When I arrived at the scheduled time, I was shown to my seat, and soon the restaurant was fully packed. Since I was moving the next day, I chose Shijo Hormone for my last night. The service from ordering to serving was very smooth, and I didn't feel any stress. The meat was also very delicious, especially the restaurant's special sauce, which was exquisite. I would like to go back to this restaurant if I have the chance.
