Founded in 1952 in Hawaii, Oahu, Leonard's BAKERY is Japan's first store. It is a specialty shop for malasadas located at the back of the Hawaii zone on the first floor of Yokohama World Porters. There are two types: 'Malasada' without cream (sugar/cinnamon sugar, each 250 yen) and 'Malasada Puff' with cream (custard/seasonal limited flavor, each 310 yen). The dough is so soft that there is almost no resistance, and it has a chewy elasticity that returns when bitten. The sugar is moderate, so it doesn't become overly sweet, allowing you to eat two or three in a row with ease. A great snack between sightseeing in Minato Mirai, a companion for a walk in Sakuragicho or Bashamichi, and a perfect souvenir in a takeout box.
