This was one of the most authentic Japanese experiences we’ve had. The food was meticulously done and tasted incredible. The service was excellent. I am glad we came here!

Overlooking Ueno Shinobazu Pond. Eels. About 5 minutes walk from Ueno station. Right next to Shinobazuno Pond. A whole eel kaiseki restaurant with a quaint appearance. Visited without a reservation. No waiting time! We entered the restaurant and were seated at a table on the floor with a great view. The atmosphere was quite luxurious, and the combination of the greenery of Shinobazunoike Pond and the clear sky made it the best of the best. The dishes were Unaju Junsai omelet The eel itself is safe. The pressure of rice is high. The omelet is a waza-thing, as only a kaiseki restaurant can do. I ate Junsai for the first time, but it was like nameko mushroom-like grass. It was delicious. Perfect for a formal dinner or a little bit of luxury. I recommend this restaurant!

Eel by Shinobazunoike Pond First time to Izuei Honten restaurant by Shinobazunoike Pond. We were guided to the second floor, where we could see Shinobazunoike Pond from the window. I was wondering whether I should have an eel stew or not, but I wanted to drink sake, so I decided to have a cup of broiled eel. The eel is soft and fluffy and tasty, and goes well with the sake called Izuei, which has the same name as the restaurant. Other dishes include deep-fried white shrimp. Eel roll. The hospitality of the restaurant was excellent, serving us the perfect dish for the hot summer season! Thank you very much for your hospitality! The view of the pond from upstairs is great, the service is top-notch, the eel is thick and not too heavy in flavor; those who prefer stronger tastes might find it a bit bland, but it is a restaurant worth recommending.
