I entered a rare udon shop run by a konjac shop and felt at ease in the homely atmosphere. The most popular dish, vegetable tempura udon, arrived piled high with freshly fried, crispy vegetables, and it was exciting just to look at. The colorful tempura, including perilla leaves, pumpkin, and burdock, had a wonderful aroma, and dipping it in the ginger-infused broth kept it interesting until the end. The soft Hakata-style udon paired perfectly with the rich broth, making it hard to put down my chopsticks. The small bowl of country-style konjac was slightly spicy, and its smooth texture was just right for cleansing the palate. Even though the portions were generous, takeout packs were provided, allowing me to enjoy the thoughtful service to the fullest.
