Since I hadn't eaten sushi during my trip to Sado Island, I stayed overnight near Niigata Station and searched for a sushi restaurant, and found Senryu nearby. I made a reservation and visited. The interior and atmosphere of the restaurant were very nice, and all the seats were full, so I was glad I made a reservation. The sashimi was fresh, and I enjoyed whale marinated in miso, seafood chawanmushi, and nigiri. The sake was Takachiyo, and everything else was delicious. The chef was friendly, and I was captivated by his knife skills right in front of me. I also had a great conversation with customers from Hokkaido and enjoyed myself until closing time. Next time, I want to bring my children along.

I entered the restaurant with a reservation right after it opened, alone. Although I was seated at the counter, the quality of the sushi was, of course, excellent, and above all, enjoying the sushi while listening to the chef talk about the local area was exceptional! First impression upon entering the restaurant was, "This place is definitely delicious!" The personality of the chef, the enjoyable conversations among customers who happened to meet... there's no doubt that the sushi is delicious, but the atmosphere of this place is the best. I was able to spend a truly enjoyable time while having various conversations. It might be the best memory of my trip... Also, when I go to Niigata again, it's not just because of the weather, but because I want to go to this restaurant, which makes me want to visit Niigata. It was amazing. Thank you for the meal.

Perhaps it's the owner's personality. The atmosphere in the shop is always friendly, and there is none of the high threshold or discomfort that is often found in famous sushi restaurants. Yet, the work is done properly and the prices are reasonable. It's a great place.

The dishes served in the relaxed atmosphere of the restaurant are mainly made from locally caught seafood. For nigiri, we recommend the Tokujo-nigiri (extra fine nigiri). The 10-piece nigiri includes mainly local fish, grated yam, sea urchin, etc., and offers a taste of the season. There is also a full lineup of one-dish items such as shime saba (mackerel) seared in ponzu sauce and saury saikyo yaki (grilled fish). All dishes are delicious and showcase the skill of our chefs. You can enjoy them with Niigata's unique local sake. Tables and tatami rooms are also available, making it a great place for groups.
