Long-established Japanese restaurant There's a restaurant I've always had my eye on, and I'm afraid I'll never make it alone... I was looking for someone to go out with me, and there they were! A local girl! And she had already visited a few years ago, that's reassuring! So I made a reservation and went for it! Mukai is located just a few minutes walk from Hankyu Mikuni Station in the direction of R176. From the outside, it looks just like a kappo (Japanese cooking) or koriyori (small dishes) restaurant. When I entered the restaurant, I was warmly welcomed by the mother! Inside the restaurant, there are counter seats and table seats. The spacious layout makes you feel comfortable. The menu includes seasonal dishes of the day, sashimi, grilled, fried, simmered, and rice dishes. There are not many kinds of dishes, but they are all available. We ordered a la carte, but they also offer a course from 3,500 yen with a reservation. Here are the dishes we tried in order But first, a toast with a half bottle of white wine! A half bottle is just right for two people, right? Vinegared crab meat and wakame seaweed as a side dish! During the hot season, I am very happy to have something refreshing like this as a side dish! I think they think of their customers! The vinegar was not too strong and it was very easy to eat! Assorted sashimi, 5 kinds, 1,500 yen We were so excited to see the small boatload of sashimi! Thai, Spanish mackerel, turban shell, squid, and tuna! I thought there would be two slices each. But there are 4 pieces, so it's quite a lot of food! The turban shells are served with liver, which is a bit strong in the sea aroma, but the crunchy texture is irresistible! The other sashimi were also delicious! Dashimaki Tamago (rolled egg) 550 yen My favorite! No matter where I go, I always order the dashimaki tamago! I feel like every restaurant that serves this tasty dish is delicious! This one is full of broth and soft and fluffy! There is a lot of grated daikon (Japanese radish), but it is covered with soy sauce from the beginning. And it's quite a lot and spicy! I would be happy if they put soy sauce on it. It was so delicious! Akagai (red clam) and radish with vinegared miso, 750 yen It came in a bowl full of shellfish! It was my first time to try wild water melon and red clams with vinegared miso! Try it and you'll see that they go so well together! The vinegar is not too strong and mild, making it easy to eat! Sometimes the red clams add a nice crunchy accent to the dish. Assorted tempura, 950 yen Shrimp, squid, octopus, sardines, shiitake mushrooms, nazubi, pumpkin, taran sprouts, kosiabura, and lotus root! We visited in May and were able to enjoy spring wild vegetables just in time! That bitter taste is very tasty, isn't it? It is a very large portion for two people! It's great that you can enjoy it with various flavors such as rock salt, lemon, and tempura sauce! They were all fried with the texture preserved, which was delicious! Bamboo shoots with sprouts, 950 yen Lastly, my sister ordered this! The sansho (Japanese pepper) is very strong and refreshing! The bamboo shoots were just as good with a firm texture! I was going to eat rice, but I was too full. All the dishes were very hearty, maybe too much for just the two of us? That's how good the cost performance is, isn't it? The wife in the hall is cheerful and very at-home! She even remembered that my sister visited a few years ago! I wonder if she has a great memory or if she is impressive? Everyone was pleasant. The taste was exceptionally delicious. Since there were group customers, it couldn't be helped, but it would have been better if it had been a little more organized. It's a shame for a high-end restaurant.
