Shibamata Marujin is a famous tsukudani shop located along the approach to Taishakuten Temple. Its flavorful tsukudani features a perfect balance of sweetness, spiciness, and umami, making it a beloved accompaniment to rice and a delightful snack with drinks. The particularly popular clam tsukudani is a special item known for its large grains and rich taste. In a place where Edo culture thrives, this establishment has continued to captivate many people for years. Be sure to enjoy this exquisite flavor.

This shop, which you can find right away by walking along the approach from the station, has an old-fashioned aroma. A variety of tsukudani and pickles are lined up, making it fun to choose from the many options. In particular, the clam tsukudani has large pieces that are packed with umami, and I was impressed. The anago (conger eel) tsukudani is also moist and pairs perfectly with rice as well as sake. The apricot pickles have a refreshing sourness, and each bite brings a new discovery. With a friendly atmosphere typical of the downtown area and attentive service, shopping here becomes an enjoyable experience.
